If you’re planning a Caribbean vacation and can’t decide between Aruba and Curaçao, you may not have to choose. Thanks to a quick flight between the islands, it’s easy to combine both destinations into one unforgettable trip.

Located in the Dutch Caribbean just off the coast of Venezuela, Aruba and Curaçao each offer something different. Curaçao is known for its colorful culture, waterfront downtown, and local charm, while Aruba is famous for its beautiful beaches, sunshine, and laid-back resort atmosphere.

After visiting both islands, Enchanted Travel advisor Josh recommends experiencing them together for the best of both worlds.

Aruba + Curaçao: Caribbean Island-Hopping Itinerary

Start Your Trip in Curaçao

Curaçao offers a unique blend of Caribbean beauty and European influence. Colorful waterfront buildings, local restaurants, beach clubs, and a vibrant downtown atmosphere make it feel different from many traditional Caribbean destinations.

One of Josh’s biggest recommendations for Curaçao is to rent a car. Rental cars typically cost around $40 per day and are often cheaper than relying on taxis. Having a car makes it easy to explore the island, visit different beaches, and spend time downtown.

Stay at Dreams Il Mare Curaçao

During his trip, Josh stayed at Dreams Il Mare, the adults-only section of Dreams Curaçao.

Guests staying at Il Mare have access to both Dreams Curaçao and Zoëtry Curaçao, giving travelers multiple dining and resort options during their stay.

The beach itself was beautiful, though somewhat rocky in certain areas. Josh found the accommodations fairly basic compared to some newer luxury resorts and experienced inconsistent service during his stay. However, the resort’s location provides a convenient base for exploring the island.

Explore Downtown Curaçao

One of the highlights of Curaçao is its colorful downtown area. Located about 15 minutes from Dreams Il Mare, downtown Willemstad is filled with waterfront restaurants, shopping, nightlife, and Dutch-inspired architecture.

This is where Curaçao really shines. While many Caribbean vacations revolve entirely around the resort, Curaçao encourages travelers to get out and explore.

For travelers who enjoy local culture, food, and sightseeing in addition to beaches, Curaçao offers a refreshing change of pace.

New Resort Opening: TUI BLUE Curaçao

One of the most anticipated resort openings in the Dutch Caribbean is TUI BLUE Curaçao, scheduled to open in October 2026.

This new all-inclusive resort will provide another option for travelers looking to experience Curaçao’s culture, beaches, and outdoor adventures while enjoying the convenience of an all-inclusive stay.

Hop Over to Aruba

Divi Divi Air - Flight to Aruba

After exploring Curaçao, it’s easy to continue your vacation in Aruba.

Josh and his wife flew from Curaçao to Aruba on a small regional flight (Divi Divi Air) that took approximately 25 minutes. While they traveled on a 12-seat aircraft, larger flight options are also available.

The short flight makes island-hopping incredibly simple and allows travelers to experience two very different Caribbean destinations in one trip.

Finish Your Trip in Aruba

Aruba is known for its stunning white sand beaches, reliable weather, and welcoming atmosphere. In fact, Aruba is often considered one of the safest islands in the Caribbean and receives very little rainfall throughout the year.

The island is ideal for travelers looking to relax, enjoy beautiful beaches, and spend time on the water.

Stay at Secrets Baby Beach Aruba

One of Josh’s favorite resorts from the trip was Secrets Baby Beach Aruba, a newer adults-only all-inclusive resort located in the growing San Nicolas area.

The resort features:

  • Spacious guest rooms
  • Two main pools plus a Preferred Club pool
  • Easy access to Baby Beach
  • Excellent snorkeling opportunities
  • Complimentary beer and water available at the beach

Because the resort is still relatively new, service was occasionally inconsistent during Josh’s visit, though staff training was clearly underway.

Why We Love Baby Beach

Baby Beach is one of Aruba’s most popular beaches and was a standout during the trip.

The calm, shallow water makes it ideal for swimming, and the snorkeling is excellent. Visitors can often spot colorful tropical fish and sea turtles while exploring just offshore.

Guests can walk far into the water while still enjoying calm conditions, making it one of the most beginner-friendly snorkeling locations in Aruba.

There are also two public beachfront restaurants nearby, though prices can be higher than what travelers may expect.

The nearby San Nicolas area continues to grow as a tourism destination, including the future addition of Dreams Aruba, which is currently under development.

Why Visit Both Islands?

While Aruba and Curaçao are often compared, they actually complement each other perfectly.

Choose Aruba for:

  • Beautiful beaches
  • Consistent sunshine
  • Relaxed resort vacations
  • Great snorkeling

Choose Curaçao for:

  • Colorful culture
  • Walkable downtown areas
  • Local restaurants and nightlife
  • A more adventurous island experience

Or better yet, combine both and enjoy the best of each destination.
