New Year’s Eve in the Caribbean
New Year’s Eve in the Caribbean

1. Aruba
New Year’s Eve celebrations start early in Aruba. Beginning December 28, you can expect to see fantastic fireworks displays across the island. There are many street parties and a lively feel to the island – the atmosphere can be described as electric!
In addition, Aruba has a reliably dry, warm climate and sudden downpours are more rare here compared to other Caribbean islands. This makes it the perfect island choice for those looking for a little sun (or a lot!).
2. Barbados
Barbados is widely known as the most popular place for a Caribbean Christmas or New Year’s Eve celebration, thanks to its vibrant culture and festive atmosphere throughout the island. The native Bajans are known to throw an incredible New Year’s party, with street shows, mouthwatering food, and plenty of fireworks.
3. Cuba
Cubans go all out in their NYE celebrations taking place throughout the island. Havana is the wildest place to party on the island – expect bustling lines to buy food and drink throughout the day. Come evening time, the whole city congregates in the bars and restaurants on the main street. The firework display may be the visual focus of the night, but the warmth and hospitality of Cuban culture is the true highlight of any holiday in Cuba.
4. The Bahamas
The Bahamas offers a diverse selection of activities for your New Year’s Eve celebrations. You can spend your New Year’s relaxing on one of the island’s many unspoiled beaches, or, alternately, enjoy one of the most exciting and colorful New Year’s parades in the world – Junkanoo.
Junkanoo is at its best in Nassau. Junkanoo is similar to Mardi Gras celebrations but with the distinct local flavor of the Bahamas. The parade is completed with outrageous costumes, fireworks, and music that starts at around midnight and lasts into the morning.
5. Martinique
Martinique, though often overlooked by travelers to the Caribbean, deserves a spot on this list. And although the New Year’s celebrations here aren’t as overtly spectacular as the other Caribbean islands, this is most definitely not to say that you won’t find fireworks and street revels.
You will find that Martinique, as a department of France, boasts a culture and food with a distinctly French flair. Also, the island is perfect for those who like to spice their holidays with regular bouts of shopping. You’ll find Chanel, Limoges, and several other renowned French brands here.

Have you ever found yourself hoping to trade the frostbite and blizzards for Christmas in the Caribbean? We don’t blame you. Below we’ve listed some of our favorite holiday traditions and celebrations that are completely unique to the Caribbean islands!
1. Junkanoo, Bahamas
2. Festival of Lights, St. Lucia
Make your way to the island’s capital city of Castries in December 13th to discover the Parade of Lanterns, dancing, and a grand finale of fireworks. Just as it sounds, this Festival of Lights is a celebration of light conquering dark, honoring the Saint Lucia or “Saint Lucy” (the patron saint of light). The most recent addition to the festival, the Lantern Ritual, takes place at the harbor where lanterns are placed in the water to symbolize the prayers and wishes of the year to come.
3. Sand Yards, Cayman Islands
A white Christmas is just something the Caribbean has learned to live without, so we thought. When Christmas-ing in the Caymans, don’t miss the locals’ imitations of snow-covered lawns by covering them in powdery, white sand. Sounds like a pretty great alternative to us!
4. Nelson’s Dockyard Christmas Champagne Party, Antigua
A tradition that has been taking place for 25 years and counting, Antiguans head to Nelson’s Dockyard on Christmas morning for their annual Champagne Party. About 500 bottles of bubbly are popped for this extravaganza, with all proceeds given to charity.
5. Harbour Fest, Jamaica
There’s no better way to ring in the New Year than with a dazzling firework display. Jamaica’s Harbour Fest is just that, live reggae performances and a wide array of craft vendors leading up to the main event.

As the average cost of a traditional wedding ceremony and reception skyrockets, more and more couples are opting for a personalized and surprisingly affordable destination wedding rather than an overpriced, run-of-the mill wedding. If you and your future spouse like the idea of a relaxing destination wedding but don’t know where or how to start, we can help!
Below are the best tips for making your dream destination wedding a reality.

1. Hire a pro
Enchanted Travel can help you in picking out the perfect destination for your upcoming nuptials. Travel specialists plan excursions for groups of two to 2,000, and ensure that guests of all ages are comfortable and well-accommodated. They handle all of your guests’ travel needs so you are freed from the role of travel-agent-bride-or-groom. Instead you can focus on wedding details and your only role is husband or wife.
Our agents are destination wedding specialists. We have been planning destination weddings for over twenty years! Our agents have visited all of the best resorts and locations for destination weddings in Hawaii, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Jamaica.
Travel specialists have access to thousands of dollars in group discounts. We will present the options to you upfront to help you anticipate the full cost of your destination wedding with no surprises.
At Enchanted Honeymoons, we also provide free wedding invitations for your big day. You are able to add your picture and design the invitation to your liking. We also provide a wedding registry so your friends and family members can contribute to your big day or your honeymoon. Finally, we provide these and all of our services free of charge!
We are always in your corner, and are reachable by phone, text and e-mail while you and your group are traveling – yes, we are available 24/7 for your entire group from the time they book to the time they arrive back home.
2. Notify guests well in advance
This is one of the most important destination wedding tips. Not only will you want to give your loved ones ample time to check their schedule for your destination wedding date, but you will also want to make sure they have plenty of time to calculate whether or not they can accord the cost of traveling to your ceremony and reception. Working with Enchanted Honeymoons Travel ensures that you and your guests are prepared and have everything you need for the trip.
3. Visit in advance if possible
Ideally, you’d be able to visit your venue once before booking, but this is not always the case for destination weddings. Ask your travel agent at Enchanted Travel about discounts offered by certain hotels on stays before your wedding date. If your hotel doesn’t offer a discount and you are not able to visit your venue, just be sure to arrive a few days in advance of the ceremony and reception. This will allow you to change anything and will relieve some stress for your big day!
4. Pick the Perfect Spot
The location of your wedding determines not only the mood – whether you are going for sophisticated, beachy, or rustic – but also the travel, time and budget required to pull it off. Your wedding elements should say something about your personal style and your passions. Enchanted Honeymoons can help you choose the perfect setting for you – whether it’s a beach in Maui, a gazebo over the Caribbean, a private garden in St. Lucia, or a beautiful chapel in Jamaica.
5. Embrace the setting to save big
Slash both your decor and catering costs by choosing items that are native to your destination. Our agents at Enchanted Honeymoons Travel have been to all of the top destinations so we are able to relay first-hand what may work for your big day. For instance, consider having exotic flowers and plants in the tropics rather than, say, red roses. Serve local specialties at the reception, like jerk chicken in Jamaica or conch fritters in the Bahamas.
6. Choose your wedding dress based on your destination
Breathable fabrics work best in hot, humid locations such as the beach. Think lightweight lace in Mexico. On the other hand, some destinations were made for something more dramatic. For nuptials set in a villa in France, for instance, an embellished ball gown may be appropriate!
7. Never check your dress
Always carry your dress on board the plane, even if it means having to fold it. Just make sure someone at the other end can press and steam it!
8. Time it Right
Unfortunately, the best weather in popular destinations tends to be high or heavy-tourist season, when there are typically more crowds, fewer hotels and venues available, and higher prices all around. If you choose to marry during high season, you’ll want to reserve hotel blocks and venues immediately and send out save-the-dates 10 to 12 months in advance so guests can book their flights and accommodations before prices skyrocket. Our agents at Enchanted Honeymoons Travel are all destination wedding specialists, so we will can help you choose the best time for your big day. If you choose the shoulder-season (right after high-season), you may be able to save yourself and your guests some money and still enjoy great weather. While the off-season will mean fewer crowds, the weather can be iffy, and you may find that many stores, venues and vendors close up shop.
9. Research Local Marriage Requirements
The legal side of tying the knot in a different country can be complicated. Many countries have a “residency requirement” (for example, 24 hours in Turks and Caicos and 7 days in England), which means you must reside in the country for a certain length of time before your ceremony. Although this is usually just a few days, it can be longer. France requires you to arrive at least 40 days before you marry! When in doubt, ask your travel agent!
Call Enchanted Honeymoons Travel at 402-281-3022 to start booking your dream destination wedding!
The stunning Caribbean beaches are fairly easy to get to for us Midwesterners and East Coasters. With white sand, turquoise water, and magnificent views, what more could you ask for? We’ve rounded up our favorite beaches in the Caribbean, below, plus where to stay to take advantage of each.

1. Grace Bay
Turks and Caicos
Turks and Caicos is easily one of the most beautiful groups of Caribbean islands you’ll find, with a number of stunning beaches. The beach at Grace Bay, however, is on a whole different level! The snorkeling and scuba diving is unbeatable here, and if you’re not really a water person you can still get your underwater fix at the Coral Gardens snorkeling park.
Where to Stay: We recommend staying at the 4.5-Star Seven Stars Resort in Turks & Caicos. This resort does not offer an all-inclusive option, but you can opt for the European Plan for 2 adults for 3 nights starting at $1,493.

2. Eagle Beach
Aruba
Aruba is different from a lot of the Caribbean islands because it’s turquoise water and white sands sit in direct contracts to the desert hills in the background. Eagle Beach is the perfect place to enjoy these unique views. Also unique to this beach are the famous bending fofoti trees, pictured above.
Where to Stay: One of our favorite resorts in Aruba that is also within walking distance of Eagle Beach, is the 4-Star, All-Inclusive Hotel Riu Palace Aruba. 2 adults can stay here for 3 nights starting at $1,763.

3. Playa Coson
Las Terrenas, Samana, Dominican Republic
The Dominican Republic has become a hotspot for tourists in the Caribbean. In order to take advantage of the best beaches in the DR, you must venture a bit farther north. Many of the best beaches are located in the former fishing village of Las Terrenas. “El Coson”, as it is referred to by the locals, is the most isolated and stunning of all Las Terrenas’ beaches.
Where to Stay: Stay in the Samana area of the Dominican Republic for easy access to Playa Coson. We suggest staying at the 5-Star Luxury Bhia Principe Cayo Levantado Don Pablo Collection All-Inclusive resort. This resort is nestled on it’s very own private island. 2 people can stay here for 3 nights starting at $1,007.

4. Seven Mile Beach
Negril, Jamaica
Seven Mile Beach is one of the more well-known Caribbean beaches on this list, but no less stunning. Go to Negril in order to see this long stretch of white sand, and stay for the laid-back, hippie-esque vibe you’ll find on this friendly island. Plus, this beach is home to the famous Negril Cliffs, where adrenaline-seekers can climb 30 feet to the top and dive directly into the Caribbean Sea.
Where to Stay: We suggest you stay at the 5-Star, All-Inclusive Royalton Negril Resort & Spa. This resort is family-friendly, but they also have an adults-only section called The Hideaway. 2 people can stay here for 3 nights starting at $1,256.

5. Buck Island
Saint Croix, USVI
Saint Croix itself is fairly secluded, but Buck Island is even more so. It is located 30 minutes by boat from mainland Saint Croix, and the island is a national preserve. It is one of the top snorkeling spots in the world, with crystal clear waters and incredible coral reefs.
Where to Stay: Again, Saint Croix is rather private, and we would actually suggest staying on St. Thomas or St. John for more options in accommodations and more things to do. Then you can take a ferry directly to Buck Island or get there by stopping on Saint Croix first. In St. Thomas, we suggest staying at the 4-Star, All-Inclusive Bolongo Bay. 2 people can stay here for 3 nights starting at $1,419.

Our travel expert McKayla just returned form a 5-night stay at Sandals Royal Bahamian Resort. This was her first time staying at a Sandals property, though she has sent many of her clients here and received good reviews. Read up on what she thought of the property, including what she liked and didn’t like. In addition, how does she compare it to the Atlantis resort and Grand Hyatt Baha Mar? Read on to find out!
Sandals Royal Bahamian Resort

Beach & Private Island
This is one of the nicest beaches that McKayla has been to, and trust us when we say she has seen a lot of all-inclusive beaches in her day. In addition to a pristine white sand beach on property, Sandals Royal Bahamian also has its own private island. The beach on the private island is just as nice as the resort’s main beach – soft, white sand and no seaweed at all. This is truly the selling point for Sandals Royal Bahamian, so if you are looking for that perfect beach – this might be the right property for you.
Food & Drinks
McKayla ranked the food & drinks at Sandals Royal Bahamian as average. For such an expensive resort, many would expect better food options and higher-end alcohol choices. Although they did not have top-shelf liquor, they did have high-end wine choices, so if you are more of a wine drinker than a liquor drinker, this could work for you. Despite ranking most of the food as average, McKayla and her group of couples really liked the Japanese Steak House, so if you book a trip here this is must for dining.

Sandals Royal Bahamian Resort vs. Atlantis Bahamas
Sandals Royal Bahamian Resort is more of a quiet property, but McKayla and her group did venture to Atlantis Resort for a day trip. “Atlantis is the place to be in the Bahamas,” McKayla said after visiting. They spent the day at the water park and the aquarium. The beach is “unreal” and her overall opinion was that there is no other resort that matches Atlantis in the Bahamas. Do keep in mind that Atlantis is not an all-inclusive property and room rates are pretty expensive as is. To get the Atlantis experience on a budget, book your room at the Comfort Inn Paradise Island that is right next door. When you stay here, you can use all of the amenities at Atlantis, including the water park. Paradise Island also has a fun little marina for cheaper places to eat compared to what you’ll find at Atlantis.

Sandals Royal Bahamian vs. Grand Hyatt Baha Mar
The biggest difference between Sandals Royal Bahamian and Grand Hyatt Baha Mar is that Sandals is a much older property. Grand Hyatt Baha Mar, on the other hand, is brand new and super luxurious. McKayla compared it to the Bellagio in Vegas. Here you’ll find 3 buildings, a casino, restaurants, bars, lounges and a nightclub. This is definitely a better choice for a group of young people that want to go out. However, Sandals Royal Bahamian does offer a shuttle service that will take you to & from Baha Mar until 4 AM. So if you want the all-inclusive convenience and the trusted Sandals property, but you want to enjoy the nightlife at Baha Mar, you still can. As for prices, McKayla notes that food and drinks are about the same price as what you’ll find at Atlantis.

Overall Review of Sandals Royal Bahamian
Overall, McKayla and her friends enjoyed their stay at Sandals Royal Bahamian. This is a great option for people who want a relaxed vacation with a great beach. It is not the right property for someone who wants a brand new room, top shelf liquor, etc. This is also not the perfect choice for those looking to stay out all night. However, as stated above, Sandals does offer a shuttle service to Grand Hyatt Baha Mar until 4 AM. So really you can have the best of both worlds: all-inclusive prices and convenience at Sandals + the nightlife and luxury of Baha Mar for a day trip or a night out. McKayla’s favorite part of her stay was the day trip to Atlantis, so if you want the best of the best in the Bahamas, this is what she would recommend.

Once you decide to throw a Bahamas destination wedding, you have many more choices to make. Most importantly, choosing a location. You’ll find a wide variety of properties in the Bahamas, from intimate boutique-style hotels to party-focused resorts. Besides size, there are several other factors to consider when choosing a resort. You’ll want to be sure the resort can accommodate your full guest list. In addition, keep in mind that some resorts cater to smaller wedding parties, and others accommodate and actively prefer larger groups.

This is an all-inclusive, adults-only property.
What to Expect When Planning a Bahamas Destination Wedding
Planning a destination wedding in the Bahamas is an exciting experience, but it’s important to consider a few key details to ensure your big day goes smoothly.
Legal Requirements for a Bahamas Wedding
Before saying “I do” in paradise, ensure you meet the legal requirements for a wedding in the Bahamas:
- Couples must reside in the Bahamas for at least 24 hours before applying for a marriage license.
- A valid passport and birth certificate are required.
- If previously married, a divorce decree or death certificate (if applicable) must be provided.
- Marriage licenses are valid for 90 days and typically cost around $120 USD.
If you prefer a stress-free process, many Bahamas destination wedding resorts offer wedding coordinators who can assist with all legal requirements and paperwork.
Best Time of Year for a Bahamas Destination Wedding
The Bahamas is a year-round tropical paradise, but some months are better for weddings than others:
- Best Months: November – April (dry season, less rain, lower humidity)
- Rainy Season: June – October (higher humidity, occasional hurricanes)
- Peak Tourist Season: December – April (book early for the best resort availability)
For couples looking for more affordable wedding packages, the off-season months (May–October) often provide better deals at Bahamas destination wedding resorts.

Our agents just returned from a trip to one of the best all-inclusive resorts in the Bahamas: Sandals Emerald Bay in Exuma. With crystal clear turquoise waters, powdery white sand, and access to amazing coral reefs, the Bahamas are perfect for those seeking both relaxation and adventure. We love this property for honeymoons, destination weddings, couples, and groups! There are a ton of great all-inclusive resorts in the Bahamas to choose from. Plus, we’ve included some of our favorite things to do when you visit the Bahamas.
The Best All-Inclusive Resorts in the Bahamas

Sandals Emerald Bay
Let’s start with this one that our agents recently loved! Sandals Emerald Bay is located on Great Exuma Island in the Bahamas. This luxurious, secluded property offers a wide range of activities for guests and is adults-only.
It has one of the most gorgeous 18-hole golf courses in the Caribbean, for starters. Guests of the resort pay just $120 for carts and clubs. They provide very nice golf clubs so do not worry about bringing your own! We also love that this course is located directly on the property.
In addition to a marina village with a 133-slip marina, Sandals Emerald Bay boasts three pools, a state-of-the-art spa, and unlimited land and water sports, including kayaking, paddle boarding, scuba diving, and beach volleyball.
All of the rooms here have an ocean view, but talk to your Enchanted Travel Advisor about upgrading to a beachfront room for an even better and more direct view.
The property has gorgeous grounds throughout, a very private beach, and is perfect for exploring nearby coral reefs or simply enjoying the powdery white sand. Our agents loved visiting the nearby Grand Isle Resort for dinners off-property. Here you’ll find two amazing restaurants, 23 North and Palapa, offering unforgettable dining experiences near some of the most beautiful beaches in the Bahamas.
Hotel Riu Palace Paradise Island
Hotel Riu Palace Paradise Island is an adults-only, all-inclusive Bahamas hotel located on Paradise Island, just minutes from the straw market and Marina Village. Guests can enjoy two gorgeous pools, one with a great swim-up bar, and a private beach with seaside hammocks. There are a variety of restaurants with stellar food and tons of water sports.

Sandals Royal Bahamian
With newly updated rooms (renovated in 2022), 10 restaurants, and access to a private offshore island, Sandals Royal Bahamian is a truly unique all-inclusive experience. While Sandals properties are known for being adults only, there are also family-friendly all-inclusive resorts Bahamas that offer options for those traveling with children (just ask us for recommendations!).
Book a swim-up suite for a super-luxurious stay, including butler service and VIP airport transfers in a Rolls-Royce or Mercedes-Benz.
What to do in the Bahamas
There are tons of amazing activities to venture out to during your stay in the Bahamas! While all three of the all-inclusive resorts in the Bahamas mentioned above have tons of watersports, restaurants, pools, beaches, spas, and more to keep you busy, you don’t want to miss out on what the rest of the area has to offer! If you’re planning to island-hop, St Thomas (a U.S. Virgin Island) is another Caribbean destination often compared to the Bahamas for its beautiful beaches and vibrant culture.

Visit Pig Beach
The famed Bahamas’ beach pigs live on Big Major Cay. You can get there by chartering a boat or taking a guided tour. Our agents loved visiting Pig Beach during their recent trip!
Book a Private Boat Tour for a chance to see powdery white sand beaches, blue waters, and coral reefs perfect for snorkeling. Our agents used Robert’s Island Adventures to book their private boat tour excursion. The entire boating day was smooth from start to finish, and we would recommend this company to anyone visiting the Bahamas.
Besides visiting Pig Beach, our agents also snorkeled through caves, swam with sea turtles, and visited Iguana Island. You’ll find that private boat tours allow guests to hop between many tiny islands, each with their own unique white sand beaches and reefs.

Book a Private Boat Tour
Our agents used Robert’s Island Adventures to book their private boat tour excursion. The entire boating day was smooth from start to finish and we would recommend this company to anyone visiting the Bahamas.
Besides visiting Pig Beach, our agents also snorkeled through caves, swam with sea turtles, and visited Iguana Island. You can tailor your boat tour itinerary with whatever you want to do – this company is very accommodating!
Booking your own private boat tour is also a great way to see all of the tiny little islands that make up the Bahamas. Our agents paid about $1100 with tax to rent the boat for the about 4.5 hours.

Golf
There are a ton of gorgeous golf courses throughout the Bahamas. Our agents loved playing at the course on Sandals Emerald Bay, and even the non-golfers had to visit the course just to see the amazing views!
Swim with Sharks at Compass Cay
Adventure seekers will love swimming with nurse sharks at Compass Cay, just another unforgettable family-friendly or adults-only adventure! These gentle creatures are accustomed to human interaction, making for an exciting (yet safe) encounter.
Day Trip to Harbour Island & Pink Sand Beach
Take a ferry or private boat tour to Harbour Island for its famous Pink Sands Beach, one of the most Instagram-worthy destinations in the Bahamas. The unique pink-hued sand and crystal-clear waters make this one of the most beautiful and romantic spots in the Bahamas.
Go Deep-Sea Fishing
The Bahamas is world-famous for deep-sea fishing, with charters available from most all-inclusive hotels in the Bahamas. Anglers can catch marlin, tuna, mahi-mahi, and more.
Best Time to Visit the Bahamas
While the Bahamas is a year-round destination, the best time to visit depends on your travel preferences. Peak season runs from December to April, but the months from June to November are part of the off season, which is quieter and budget-friendly. Just keep in mind it’s also hurricane season.
