The Top 5 Things to do in Los Cabos

Desert meets ocean at the tip of Mexico’s Baja Cali Peninsula. Los Cabos refers to both party-happy Cabo San Lucas and the more tame San Jose del Cabo. Between these two lies The Corridor, with 20 miles of beachfront resorts, villas, shops, and golf courses. Here are five things to do before you leave Los Cabos:

Cabo 1

1. Whale Watching

Whale watching is at its peak in Los Cabos from mid-December to mid-April. Many whale species can be spotted in Los Cabos in this time frame, including gray, humpback, sperm, blue, and whale sharks. Organized tours are available, or sit back at a high point on your resort (try the hotel lobby bar) to see them for free.

Cabo 2

2. El Arco at Land’s End

Land’s End separates the Pacific from the Sea of Cortez. The jagged rock formation is one of Cabo’s top attractions. Boat tours are available from the Marina or Playa Medano. Stop to walk through the gap between Lover’s Beach on the Cortez side and Divorce Beach on the Pacific side.

Cabo 3

3. Golf

Los Cabos is a golfer’s paradise, and golfing in Cabo can be enjoyable even if you aren’t a big fan of the sport. The fairway views are so gorgeous, that even non-golf lovers will enjoy. Los Cabos is home to seven of the very best golf courses in all of Mexico, including the famed Palmilla Golf Club.

Cabo 4

4. Todos Santos

Visit this funky surf town in Baja that is just one hour away from Cabo San Lucas. Here you will find gorgeous colonial architecture, boutique hotels, art galleries, and the best seafood in all of Mexico. Here you will find a hotel called “Hotel California”, which despite heavy marketing is not the inspiration behind the song. Still, it is a cute little boutique hotel and the area is quaint and friendly.

Cabo 5

5. El Centro & Playa Medano

If you like to party, this is the place to be in Los Cabos. Bars, nightclubs, and cantinas are around every corner in downtown Cabo San Lucas. During the day, hit a beach bar on Playa Medano.

Last year we celebrated the grand opening of Le Blanc Spa Resort Los Cabos. This is the newest Palace Resorts hotel and it is absolutely gorgeous! With breathtaking views and stunning decor throughout the property, it is hard to beat this one.

If you are a Bravo TV fan, you may recognize this resort as the setting from a couple of recent episodes of The Real Housewives of New Jersey. It’s no surprise that the high maintenance women of this show felt right at home in this desert paradise.

Let’s take a look at some of the aspects of Le Blanc Spa Resort Los Cabos that make it one of our Enchanted Travel Agent Favorites.

Le Blanc Main

Beautiful Grounds & Decor

Right when you step foot on Le Blanc Spa Resort Los Cabos, you’ll feel like royalty. I know I did when I stayed here in March 2018 when it was newly open! If you’ve had the chance to stay at the Le Blanc property in Cancun, it is similar to the feel of this resort. However, it is different in a few ways. For one, it is much bigger. While the original Le Blanc Spa Resort in Cancun has 260 rooms, it’s sister property in Los Cabos has 373. You will also notice that it feels much more spread out than the property in Cancun.

In addition, there is more of a desert feel to Le Blanc Spa Resort Los Cabos, as an ode to it’s desert paradise surroundings. It still has that classic, clean, white-on-white decor throughout, but you’ll also find more sand elements, plus cacti mixed in with the gorgeous palm trees!

Le Blanc Los Cabos

Gourmet Dining

My stay here in 2018 followed directly after a family trip where we stayed at the Grand at Moon Palace in Cancun. Moon Palace is also from the Palace Resorts brand and The Grand is this mega-resort’s newest addition. I was already blown away by the delicious food in this new section of the Moon Palace property, but the gourmet cuisine at Le Blanc Spa Resort Los Cabos completely exceeded my expectations. One thing that must be noted is the freshness of the cuisine! From the buffet, to the restaurants, and even the room service menu, everything I ordered was delicious and fresh.

I loved that I could order snacks directly to my lounge chair at the pool or beach, including the entire menu from the pizza restaurant and from the seafood restaurant, Le Blanc Ocean. In the morning, opt for the eggs benedict at the beach-side cafe and order the tuna ceviche poolside for an afternoon snack.

The Infinity Pool

I could have included this in the section above on the grounds and decor, but the infinity pool at Le Blanc Cabo deserves its own section. Not only is the view incredible from every angle, but the staff at the pool bar is extremely accommodating. They were attentive, and even suggested a few things that I ended up ordering over and over again. For example, I loved the jalapeno margaritas and the buffalo mozzarella pizza. In addition, there were always plenty of open chairs, whether we wanted to sit under a cabana, in the sun, or in the shallow area at the edge of the pool. I would say we spent about 75% of our time here!

The Beach

This would not be a complete review of the property without mentioning the stunning beach. It was really everything you could ask for in a Los Cabos beach! It was long, wide, and flat, with soft sand and tons of privacy. Since the property is surrounded by boutique hotels and condos rather than mega resorts, the beach feels very private. You’ll find great service here as well and you can order drinks and menu items from select restaurants directly to the beach.

The Spa

The spa at Le Blanc Los Cabos was also top notch. I had a 60-minute wellness massage and my therapist was very good. After my massage, I spent some time using the hydrotherapy options at the spa. I used the jacuzzi, the plunge pools, and the steam room and sauna. My favorite part was the hot stone lounge chairs!

Our travel advisor Brandi recently traveled to Cabo San Lucas with a group of friends, where they stayed at Hotel Riu Palace Baja California. They loved this adults-only, all-inclusive property and it was perfect for a group!

riu palace baja 1

We are big fans of the Riu brand so we were anxious to see photos and share more details with you all! Read on for her review of the beach, food, views & more.

Riu Palace Baja California is great for adult groups.

Riu Palace Baja California is great for adult groups for many reasons. Firstly, guests of Riu Palace Baja California have access to neighboring Riu Palace Cabo San Lucas and Riu Santa Fe. You will find that Riu Santa Fe has more of a party atmosphere relative to the other 2 properties. They are famous for their Riu Pool Parties and they also have an on-site nightclub. Again, you have access to all of this as a guest of the Baja California property!

Riu Palace Baja California has 4 main pool areas of its own and 2 of these have swim-up pool bars. You also have access to all of the pools at Riu Santa Fe and Riu Palace Cabo San Lucas!

“I loved the resort and would highly recommend it for social groups looking for a fun, upbeat atmosphere,” Brandi told us.

Delicious, fresh food at Riu Palace Baja California

The main restaurant, Promenade, offers authentic American buffet breakfasts with show cooking, and buffet options for lunch and dinner as well.

“I thought the variety was great and the food was always fresh.  One of my favorite options for dinner was the Guacamole Steakhouse which is located poolside (pictured above).  Some of the others in our group really enjoyed the Yu Hi Japanese Restaurant.”

The resort also has a Fusion, Indian, and an Italian Restaurant in the evenings.  A popular spot for a quick lunch during the day is Pepe’s which had street tacos, hamburgers, nachos, etc.  There are also a number of bars/lounges at the resort.  The Gold Bar is located near the theater area where there was nightly entertainment.

The rooms also offer 24-hour room service with a limited menu.

Riu Palace Baja California views

Amazing Views of Cabo San Lucas

“Cabo is one of my favorite destinations due to the beautiful scenery.  The views of the rock formations from the RIU Resorts are amazing,” Brandi noted.

We also love Cabo because there is so much to do and Riu Palace Baja California really gives you easy access to it all!

“Our group booked a water taxi at the resort which took us on a tour where we got great pictures of El Arco, the Pacific Window, and Scooby-Doo Rock.  We also stopped at the famous Lover’s Beach, one of the best swimmable beaches in Cabo.  We were then able to walk around town for a while to experience the shops and bars in town around the Marina.”

What are the Best Tips for Booking a Cabo All-Inclusive Resort?

True All-Inclusive

All the resorts above offer true all-inclusive packages, meaning premium drinks, gourmet dining, activities, and gratuities are typically covered. Be sure to double-check individual resort policies, especially for things like spa treatments, excursions, and private dinners.

Book Early

Cabo is a year-round destination, and top resorts fill quickly, especially during winter and spring.

Consider the Beach

Not all Cabo beaches are swimmable due to strong currents. Medano Beach and areas near San José del Cabo tend to be more swimmable.

Whether you’re traveling with kids or escaping for adults-only relaxation, Cabo’s all-inclusive resorts offer a perfect blend of convenience, luxury, and stunning scenery. Just show up, unpack, and let the Pacific sunshine take care of the rest.
