Our Favorite Caribbean Beaches
The stunning Caribbean beaches are fairly easy to get to for us Midwesterners and East Coasters. With white sand, turquoise water, and magnificent views, what more could you ask for? We’ve rounded up our favorite beaches in the Caribbean, below, plus where to stay to take advantage of each.

1. Grace Bay
Turks and Caicos
Turks and Caicos is easily one of the most beautiful groups of Caribbean islands you’ll find, with a number of stunning beaches. The beach at Grace Bay, however, is on a whole different level! The snorkeling and scuba diving is unbeatable here, and if you’re not really a water person you can still get your underwater fix at the Coral Gardens snorkeling park.
Where to Stay: We recommend staying at the 4.5-Star Seven Stars Resort in Turks & Caicos. This resort does not offer an all-inclusive option, but you can opt for the European Plan for 2 adults for 3 nights starting at $1,493.

2. Eagle Beach
Aruba
Aruba is different from a lot of the Caribbean islands because it’s turquoise water and white sands sit in direct contracts to the desert hills in the background. Eagle Beach is the perfect place to enjoy these unique views. Also unique to this beach are the famous bending fofoti trees, pictured above.
Where to Stay: One of our favorite resorts in Aruba that is also within walking distance of Eagle Beach, is the 4-Star, All-Inclusive Hotel Riu Palace Aruba. 2 adults can stay here for 3 nights starting at $1,763.

3. Playa Coson
Las Terrenas, Samana, Dominican Republic
The Dominican Republic has become a hotspot for tourists in the Caribbean. In order to take advantage of the best beaches in the DR, you must venture a bit farther north. Many of the best beaches are located in the former fishing village of Las Terrenas. “El Coson”, as it is referred to by the locals, is the most isolated and stunning of all Las Terrenas’ beaches.
Where to Stay: Stay in the Samana area of the Dominican Republic for easy access to Playa Coson. We suggest staying at the 5-Star Luxury Bhia Principe Cayo Levantado Don Pablo Collection All-Inclusive resort. This resort is nestled on it’s very own private island. 2 people can stay here for 3 nights starting at $1,007.

4. Seven Mile Beach
Negril, Jamaica
Seven Mile Beach is one of the more well-known Caribbean beaches on this list, but no less stunning. Go to Negril in order to see this long stretch of white sand, and stay for the laid-back, hippie-esque vibe you’ll find on this friendly island. Plus, this beach is home to the famous Negril Cliffs, where adrenaline-seekers can climb 30 feet to the top and dive directly into the Caribbean Sea.
Where to Stay: We suggest you stay at the 5-Star, All-Inclusive Royalton Negril Resort & Spa. This resort is family-friendly, but they also have an adults-only section called The Hideaway. 2 people can stay here for 3 nights starting at $1,256.

5. Buck Island
Saint Croix, USVI
Saint Croix itself is fairly secluded, but Buck Island is even more so. It is located 30 minutes by boat from mainland Saint Croix, and the island is a national preserve. It is one of the top snorkeling spots in the world, with crystal clear waters and incredible coral reefs.
Where to Stay: Again, Saint Croix is rather private, and we would actually suggest staying on St. Thomas or St. John for more options in accommodations and more things to do. Then you can take a ferry directly to Buck Island or get there by stopping on Saint Croix first. In St. Thomas, we suggest staying at the 4-Star, All-Inclusive Bolongo Bay. 2 people can stay here for 3 nights starting at $1,419.

This week’s travel agent favorite resort is Excellence El Carmen. Our travel expert Mckayla stayed here and absolutely loved it! This adults-only all-inclusive property is located just outside of Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. Read on for everything you need to know about this 5-star resort.

The Perfect Resort for Relaxation
Excellence El Carmen has just the right amount of seclusion without making guests feel isolated. It is located just outside of the main hotel zone in Punta Cana – about a 40 minute drive from the airport. Even if you stay during a time when the resort is at full capacity, it never feels crowded.
You won’t find a crazy party vibe here, although they do have daily and nightly activities if you are looking to cut loose a bit. For instance, they host silent discos, white parties, games at the pool, and more. If you are looking for a spring break type atmosphere, this is not the resort for you!

Luxurious Suites
Excellence El Carmen is an all-suite property. They underwent a $45 million renovation in 2017 which included all of the rooms. Here you’ll find six suite types to choose from, all with a mid-century-modern vibe. We suggest you upgrade to a swim-up suite which includes a private pool and deck. This is a great option for honeymooners.
The suites at this resort are large and airy, with marble floors and glass-enclosed whirlpools that overlook your very own private balcony. Almost all of the rooms have at least a partial ocean view.
Although the property is large, even the rooms at the back of the resort are just a 5-10 minute walk to get anywhere on the resort, including the beach.

Delicious Food & Impeccable Service
With 10 restaurants on-site, plus 24-hour room service, you truly cannot go hungry when staying at Excellence El Carmen! There are also 16 (yes, you read that correctly!) bars on the property, including a cigar lounge, a sports bar and a piano bar. Our favorite is the rooftop X Lounge, with gorgeous ocean views and stellar drinks.
For restaurants,we suggest you try Flavor Market which serves delicious tapas in the evening. In addition, the breakfast buffet at Kitchen Table is great for breakfast and lunch. Lobster House is another great option for lunch and is located by the beach. They also offer a great Dominican breakfast. For coffee lovers, head to the Aroma coffee shop in the morning and the Martini Bar at night for the espresso martini.
You’ll also find great service on the beach and at the pools if you don’t want to leave your lounge chair for a drink. You can even order drinks from one of the staff members at your very own room pool if you choose to upgrade to this category!

Amazing Pools and Gorgeous Beach
Excellence El Carmen is home to one of Punta Cana’s very best beaches. It is very secluded, super comfortable lounge chairs and thatched umbrellas surrounded by white sand and palm trees. You can also partake in the water sports that are included for all guests. Enjoy the kayaks and Hobie Cat catamarans at no extra charge. You’ll love this property even more if you prefer the pool over the beach. there are 23 freshwater pools scattered through the property, including one with gorgeous ocean views for the best of both worlds.
As mentioned above, there is bar and snack service at all of the pools and the beach so you never have to leave. In addition, there is a swim-up bar at the main pool and two pool bars.
For an even more luxurious beach day, be sure to book a VIP cabana. For just $60 per day, you’ll get your own concierge, cabana, loungers, and beach access. Be sure to book this in advance because there are only 2 VIP cabanas on the resort.
Call us today to book your own romantic getaway at the adults-only, all-suite Excellence El Carmen. You can reach us at 402-390-9291 or get started here.
Recent media coverage of deaths in the Dominican Republic have led many travelers to to the conclusion that there is a sudden surge of violence in the country. But that belief doesn’t match the data. Our travel experts at Enchanted Travel have been following the recent coverage and want to give you the most accurate information. Let’s take a look at some of the news articles that provide real facts on the supposed risks in the Dominican Republic. Click the main headings below for full reports.

CNN: The constant media coverage of American deaths in the D.R. does not match the real data
This short and helpful video gets straight to the point: “constant media coverage of the deaths and illnesses in the Dominican Republic has led to the belief that there is a sudden uptick in American deaths in the country, but here’s the thing: the perception does not match the data.”
Here’s the data they are referring to:
So far, 10 Americans have died in the Dominican Republic this year – some from natural causes, some not. In 2018, there were 13 deaths in the Dominican Republic from non-natural causes. In 2017, 17 Americans died in the D.R. from non natural causes. And in 2016? 18 Americans died in the country from non natural causes. So the data shows that there is NOT an uptick in deaths in the Dominican Republic.
However, due to the increased apprehension surrounding Americans traveling to the Dominican Republic, the FBI is sending investigators to the country to investigate the recent American deaths.
“We do not publish statistics regarding natural deaths abroad. However, speaking generally, over 2.7 million US citizens visit the Dominican Republic each year, and we have not seen an uptick in the number of US citizen deaths reported to the department,” according to a US state department official.
This report likens the media coverage to the shark attack hysteria of 2001, when Time Magazine reported it as “the Summer of the Shark”. However, data for this proves otherwise: There were 76 attacks and 5 deaths from sharks in 2001. In the previous year, there were 86 attacks and 12 deaths from sharks.
The Bottom Line
The bottom line: “It is human nature to be pessimistic and fatalistic even when the numbers don’t back up the fear, causing us to feel the world is getting more violent and less safe even when the numbers actually prove otherwise. Furthermore, the real data proves that American deaths in the Dominican Republic are NOT on the rise.
The New York Times: Crisis hits Dominican Republic over deaths of U.S. Tourists
This article from the New York Times reiterates the facts displayed in the video from CNN: “We have not seen an uptick in the number of U.S. citizen deaths reported to the Department,” said an official with the State Department. The US government supports the Dominican government’s statements that the alarm over the deaths may be exaggerated.
Dominican officials state that the number of deaths in recent months is no cause for alarm when you consider the statistics of a country where more than 2 million Americans visit each year.
The Facts
“Of the 10 Americans who have died in the D.R. over the last year, six have reportedly died of heart-related conditions, including one whose family said they do not view the death as suspicious. (Cardiovascular problems account for nearly half of all American tourist deaths abroad, according to the Centers for Disease Control.)”
Even tourists themselves are debunking the frenzy surrounding the recent deaths: “If there’s one thing I know, it’s don’t be guided by fear,” said Marc Purcell, 46, a financial associate from Toronto who was at the Hard Rock with his wife to attend a wedding. This was their fourth trip to the Dominican Republic. “We’re having an amazing time and plan to return,” he continued.
As stated in the video from CNN and in this article from the New York Times, the FBI has sent a team to the country to assist local investigators with toxicological tests. Specifically, they are examinig the case of the Maryland couple, Nathaniel Holmes and Cynthia Day, who were found dead in their hotel room at the Grand Bahia Principe hotel in La Romana on May 30. Another American, 41, died at the same resort on May 25.
The Most Recent Deaths
“Autopsies showed that the deaths of the Maryland couple were a result of respiratory failure brought on by pulmonary edema. Pulmonary edema refers to fluid in the lungs. But attempts to explain how that happened quickly became confusing. Several bottles of medication were found in their room. The spokesman for the Ministry of Public Health, Carlos Suero, told Fox News that Mr. Holmes died first, and Ms. Day died afterward, “probably from the shock of seeing the person beside her dead.”
For more details, watch the full CNN video, linked above in the first heading. In addition, you can read the full article from The New York Times in the second heading above.
When Tracy and Kevin started planning their dream wedding, they knew they wanted something different. With the help of their travel advisor Marissa Hatcher, they chose Dreams Flora Resort & Spa in the Dominican Republic. It turned out to be the perfect way to celebrate their love in a beautiful and stress-free setting!
A Dream Destination Wedding at Dreams Flora in the Dominican Republic

Why a Beach Wedding?
The couple chose a beach wedding because they wanted very little planning chaos, with something fun and different. They have both been married in the past, so a beach wedding was absolutely perfect.

The Mermaid-Inspired Theme
To complement the Caribbean setting, they went with what they called a “mermaid theme.”
“We went with blues, greens, and purples. The only flowers were ours. My bouquet had blue and white; his had pink and white. We went pretty casual because we wanted everyone to have fun!” The relaxed style made it easy for guests to soak in the setting and enjoy the celebration.

Favorite Memories
For the wedding ceremony, they exchanged vows right above the resort’s pools, something truly unique. “One of my favorite memories was getting married right above the pools. Everyone was respectful and it was like having extras to ooh and ah over us! We also did a reception back home and I feel like it didn’t give me time to do things I wanted. It made me appreciate our small island reception even more.”

Food and Service That Stood Out
Every detail was handled with care, from the food to the staff support.“The cake was delicious, white cake with strawberry and pudding cream. So yummy! All of the food was amazing and the staff was great. Our butler was so helpful with planning things and taking care of little stuff for us. They even freshened up our clothes for us on the wedding day so we could relax and enjoy!”

With Marissa’s guidance, this couple got the magical, stress-free wedding they dreamed of! If you’re ready to start planning your own destination wedding at an all-inclusive resort in the Dominican Republic, our team at Enchanted Travel is here to help every step of the way.

We were thrilled to attend the Diamond Appreciation Event with Delta Vacations this year, hosted at the stunning and brand-new Zemi Miches Punta Cana All-Inclusive Resort, Curio Collection by Hilton. This resort has been on our radar since it opened, and it absolutely exceeded our expectations. From the spacious suites and gorgeous beachfront to the excellent dining and friendly staff, Zemi Miches truly stands out among new Caribbean all-inclusives.
While it quickly became one of our new favorites, there are a couple of things to keep in mind before you book. They do not take away from the overall experience, but they are worth knowing.
Here is everything we loved and a few important notes about Zemi Miches Punta Cana.
Zemi Miches Punta Cana All-Inclusive Resort Review

A Gorgeous Resort in a Unique and Up-and-Coming Destination
Miches is one of the Dominican Republic’s rising destinations, and it is perfect for travelers who have already visited Punta Cana and want something more untouched, scenic, and peaceful. It offers that dramatic mountain and ocean combination that reminds many of Costa Rica or Puerto Vallarta, but without the higher price tag or long flight time.
Zemi Miches is set on a stretch of beach that genuinely surprised us.
- The sand is wide, soft, and extremely clean.
- The shoreline feels rugged and natural, which creates a beautiful contrast with the modern resort design.
- The beachfront is directly in front of the property, which means you can walk from your room to the beach in seconds.
We walked straight from our swim-out suite to the beach every morning and could hear the waves from our patio. This level of beachfront proximity is something you do not always get in Punta Cana.

High End Design and Architecture
The moment you walk into the lobby, you get that immediate wow moment. The ceilings are tall, the space feels bright and airy, and the Caribbean modern design makes a strong first impression. Every corner of the resort feels intentional and photo-worthy. The lobby bar, the beach club, the pool area, the restaurants, the spa, and the rooms are all beautifully designed and very easy to navigate.
Even though the resort is large, the layout is incredibly thoughtful. Everything feels central and accessible. We stayed in Building 3, which is close to restaurants, the beach, the pool, the spa, and the lobby, while still feeling peaceful and relaxing.

A Beautiful Pool Area with Amazing Service
We were so impressed with the service at the pool, and our drinks were never empty for long! We absolutely loved the frozen margaritas from the pool bar, and they also came around with little snacks and smoothies for us to sample. We really could have spent our entire trip posted up at our pool cabana or at the swim-up pool bar.
We also really appreciated that the pool was centrally located. We could venture to the Yuca beach bar, the lobby, the buffet, and other restaurants, restrooms, and our room, without having to make a big trek.
The pool was also great for little kids with a zero-entry area. We also appreciated that the splash pad was right next to the main pool.

Delicious Food and Drinks
The food was one of the biggest highlights of our stay. We were truly impressed, and that can be rare for an all-inclusive resort.
Some meals that really stood out include the seafood – specifically the salmon – at Yuca Beach Grill for lunch. We also loved the Manicato Italian restaurant and the Boba Thai restaurant. The breakfast buffet was pretty good, and the poolside food truck had the most incredible chicken wings! These were definitely a highlight, and we loved being able to order food to take back to our pool chairs.
We were also blown away by the cocktails and wine. The bartenders really shine here. Some of our favorites included:
- Frozen margaritas at the pool bar
- Espresso martinis at the lobby bar
- Margarita martini style at dinner
- The house Sauvignon Blanc, which was genuinely delicious
We sampled margaritas from several bars and they were consistently excellent. It is safe to say we enjoy a good margarita, especially on vacation.

Amazing Service and Friendly Staff
The service at this resort truly makes a difference. Everyone we interacted with was kind, warm, and very attentive. We always felt taken care of, whether we were grabbing a drink at the pool, asking for assistance, or being seated for breakfast. At the pool, servers brought fresh drinks before we even finished our current ones. The entire staff carried a calm and relaxed energy that made the experience feel even more welcoming.

Beautiful and Comfortable Rooms
We stayed in a swim-out suite in Building 3 and absolutely loved it. A few highlights include the quick access to the beach, which we appreciated because we loved popping over to catch the sunset each evening before heading out to dinner or an event. The rooms were comfortable and well-appointed, with excellent water pressure in the shower, a well-stocked mini bar, and prompt room service. We also appreciated the easy access to the spa next door.
A Wonderful Spa Experience
We booked a couples massage during our stay and it was the perfect mid-trip reset. The spa itself is serene, lush, and beautifully designed. Our massage therapists were wonderful and we both left feeling refreshed and relaxed.

A Few Things to Know Before You Go
We absolutely loved the resort, but there are two things worth mentioning. One thing to keep in mind is the transfers time. Zemi Miches is about ninety minutes from Punta Cana International Airport. It is a scenic drive with mountain views and small towns, but it is still a long ride after a day of travel. If you arrive late or are traveling with young kids, it is good to be prepared.
Another thing to be aware of is that Miches is a rather quiet area. There are not many off-property restaurants or activities in the surrounding area yet. This is not a destination for exploring outside the resort.
The good news is that you do not need to leave the property at all. There is plenty to do, including the amazing beach and pools, water sports, great dining, some entertainment like live music, spa experiences, and fun classes.
Final Thoughts
Zemi Miches Punta Cana is an excellent choice for couples, honeymooners, families, travelers who want somewhere scenic and peaceful, and guests looking for a newer and modern all-inclusive experience.
The long transfer and quiet location are absolutely worth it for the beauty, excellent food, friendly service, and modern design that you experience once you arrive.
We loved our stay, and we cannot wait to send more of our clients here. If you are thinking about booking a trip to Zemi Miches, we would be happy to help plan your stay.

Yes. The beach is wide, soft, clean, and swimmable. The shoreline is more rugged and natural than Punta Cana’s main hotel zone, but the water is accessible and the beach is right in front of the resort.
Is there a lot to do in the Miches area?
The Miches region is quiet and still developing. There are very few off-property restaurants and activities nearby. This is a resort where you will stay on the property for the entire trip, which is ideal if you want a peaceful and relaxing experience.
Are the rooms modern and updated?
Yes. Zemi Miches is a brand new resort, and the rooms feel fresh, modern, and well designed. Swim-out suites are especially popular because they offer direct access to a private plunge pool plus quick access to the beach.
How is the food at Zemi Miches?
The food is excellent and one of the highlights of the resort. Guests can expect flavorful seafood, great international options, quality buffets, and fun extras like the poolside food truck. Even picky eaters tend to be happy here.
Are top-shelf liquors included?
Top-shelf liquors are not included, but the bartenders are excellent, and the cocktails consistently taste high-quality. The house Sauvignon Blanc is also surprisingly good.
Is Zemi Miches a good choice for couples?
Absolutely. The amenities and services, peaceful atmosphere, modern design, great dining, beautiful beach, and wonderful spa make it an excellent option for couples, honeymooners, and anniversary trips.
