Enchanted Honeymoons

Planning your perfect honeymoon, destination wedding, romantic getaway or the perfect vacation of a lifetime has never been easier with Enchanted Honeymoons travel agents.

Tips for Planning an Affordable Honeymoon

Your honeymoon should be a once in a lifetime trip for you and your new spouse. Unfortunately the cost of your dream trip may be intimidating. Follow these tips planning an Affordable Honeymoon.

1. Make a plan & set priorities

When we first meet with clients, we recommend you sit down to discuss priorities for your honeymoon. Create a list of must-see and must-do activities and use this list to create an initial budget. This will be your guideline throughout the planning stage.

2. Travel Agents can help you plan an Affordable Honeymoon

As travel agents, we have access to exclusive wedding packages that you will not find online or directly through a hotel. In addition, the relationships that travel agents have with hotels can earn you free perks such as a room upgrade or couples massage. Not only will travel agents save you money, they are also your first point of contact if any issues should arise.

3. Weigh your options

After you set your priorities, Travel+Leisure suggests that you list several options at varying costs that fit your budget. A travel agent can help you narrow down and compare these options.

4. Be realistic

Be aware that you will have at least some out of pocket expenses on your trip, even if you are staying at an All-Inclusive. Factor in every expense you might incur from the cab to the airport to the extra tip for a helpful staff member at your resort. Include an estimate of these expenses in your initial budget for your Affordable Honeymoon.

5. Beware of Hidden Fees

Hidden fees and unknown deposits can blindside travelers that are not prepared. If booking your Affordable Honeymoon through a travel agency, they should be aware of all fees and deposits you will encounter. If you are booking any portion on your own, it is wise to call the hotel, airline, and transportation service prior to arriving in destination to make yourself aware of hidden costs.

6. Look out for free stuff and discounts

Ask about free perks and discounts upfront – whether to your travel agent or directly to the hotel or airline. If you are staying at an All-Inclusive resort, check what is included with your package. Some resorts offer motorized sports, resort credits for off-property excursions, or specialty classes such as mixology or yoga. Be aware of what is included in each of your narrowed-down options in order to make an educated decision on your Affordable Honeymoon.

7. Take advantage of your newlywed status

Tell everyone you meet that you are on your honeymoon! Most restaurants and resorts will indulge you and offer free stuff such as a bottle of champagne or the table with the best view. Some car companies in Hawaii offer a free convertible upgrade for honeymooners. All you have to do is ask!

8. Consider a honeymoon registry

A honeymoon registry allows your wedding guests to gift you with activities and upgrades for your honeymoon, such as a candlelit dinner or couples massage. Many travel agencies offer this service free of charge, and several websites are also available that you can set up on your own for free.

9. Choose an Off-Season Destination

Choose a destination whose off-season or shoulder-season (the period right before and after high season) coincides with your travel dates. This will offer you discounted prices and less crowds. It is not true that off-season always entails bad weather. Many Caribbean destinations have warm temperatures year-round, but their demand skyrockets from January to April as tourists wish to escape the winter blues. This cannot be said about all destinations you may be considering, however. Many locations do experience scorching heat or bitter cold during their off-season, so be sure to do your research. Once again, a travel agent can help you with this.

10. Consider Alternate Airports

If you live in an area with a few nearby airports to choose from, be sure to compare prices between them. It may be worth driving a farther distance if it means saving a significant amount of money. Prices vary greatly depending on the size of the airport and the airlines that fly there. Let your travel agent know that you are open to alternate airports so they can compare these for you.

With so many resorts to choose from, it’s easy to get overwhelmed by pictures, online reviews, and overall information overload. Get in touch with an Enchanted Honeymoons travel agent today about all-inclusive packages in Mexico! You can also reach us by phone at 402-281-3022.

Planning a fall honeymoon, but worried about hurricane season? Don’t worry, although hurricane season is generally August through mid-October (but can actually begin in June and go through the end of November), there are still plenty of tropical destinations that are out of the danger zone. While much of the Caribbean, Florida, and other states bordering the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean are somewhat dangerous during hurricane season, that still leaves many tropical destinations to consider. Check them all out below.

Tips for Planning a Honeymoon Around Hurricane Season

First and foremost, talk with your Enchanted Travel agent about the best destinations for your desired month of travel. You can get an idea for yourself by keeping tabs on any storms brewing on the National Weather Service’s Hurricane Awareness site.

In addition, you might find that rates are low for travel to Florida or the Caribbean during peak hurricane season. If you choose to take advantage of a good deal, ask your Enchanted Travel agent about travel insurance. In addition, you can find out if your airline and resort have a hurricane guarantee before you book.  If you choose to take the risk of traveling to a hurricane-prone zone, make sure to get insurance. You can expect either a full refund or the option to rebook within a year. Again – check with your Enchanted Travel agent when booking.

You really want to read the fine print in any conditions in your insurance or hurricane guarantee policy before booking. They vary greatly, so look out for terms such as “direct impact” or “impacted by hurricane-force winds”. These terms often mean that you are not able to cancel your trip in advance, but you may be eligible for reimbursement after a storm hits.

Relatively Safe Caribbean Destinations versus Destinations More Likely to Experience Hurricanes

Not all Caribbean islands are subject to hurricanes. Specifically, Caribbean islands located further south are the least likely to experience hurricanes. These include Aruba, Barbados, Bonaire, Curacao, and the Turks and Caicos. In addition, islands further west are less likely than those on the eastern side of the Caribbean to experience hurricanes. This makes them relatively safe destinations for late summer honeymoons.

As a general rule and based off of climate date from these regions, most destinations in the northeastern Caribbean and southeastern United States are affected by a hurricane or tropical storm at least every other year. Some islands to the south and west are hit less frequently. Destinations that have been hit more than once every other year include: Cape Hatteras in North Carolina, Bermuda in the Bahamas, the Cayman Islands and Miami.

Choose a destinations that has not seen a hurricane in several years. Tobago is a good example. 1963 was their last encounter with a major hurricane. However, hurricanes are extremely unpredictable. Usually they don’t form until days or, if you’re lucky, weeks, before an already scheduled honeymoon.

Tropical (Non-Caribbean) Destinations that are not at risk of Experiencing Hurricanes

Your safest bet if you want to honeymoon in the fall is to choose a beach destination that does not experience hurricanes at this time of the year, if every. These include destinations like Hawaii, California, Greece, or Australia. Parts of Mexico are relatively safe as well, like Cancun and Cabo. I am planning my own honeymoon for Cancun in the last week of September. There are several destinations that are completely safe from this hurricane season, so if you really want to travel during this time, go for it – just choose your destination wisely. Alternately, if your wedding is in the fall or late summer, you can opt to delay your honeymoon until after November. This will ensure that you are completely out of the hurricane zone.

When choosing a honeymoon destination, one of the first steps should be deciding which season you will be traveling for the best weather and prices. If you start with this step in the beginning, it is easier to narrow down your choices – which can seem daunting! Keep in mind that the best weather is going to be found during any destination’s high season. High season usually means higher room rates and more crowds. So make sure to reserve early or choose a travel time that isn’t in peak season for your honeymoon destination.

We’ve created a guide on the best destinations for each month based off of the most ideal weather of the year. The months right before and after peak season are known as “should seasons”. During shoulder seasons, you’ll usually still have good weather and often lower hotel rates. Some destinations, like the Caribbean and Hawaii, enjoy great weather year-round, but are at their best during the months listed below.

honeymoon destination main

The Best Time to Honeymoon in the Caribbean

In the Caribbean, the best months to visit are December to May. During this time frame, the islands are the coolest and breeziest. However, average temperatures year-round are between 78-88 degrees. The worst months to go to the Caribbean are August through October. Technically, official hurricane season runs from June through November, but the worst months are August, September & October. Keep in mind that islands near South America, like Aruba and Trinidad, are outside of the hurricane danger zone so you can visit these islands year-round. In addition, high-altitude and coastal areas of the Caribbean are coooled down by the trade winds all year, which you’ll be thankful for if you plan to go in the hotter months).

The Best Time to Honeymoon in the Bahamas

The best months to visit the Bahamas are November through April. The worst months are June to October, as it is generally the hottest and rainiest time of year there.

The Best Time to Honeymoon in Hawaii

Hawaii is a great honeymoon destination all year long, but March to July are the best. October and November are also good times to visit the islands of Hawaii. December and January experience the coolest weather – although you’ll still see an average temperature of about 75 degrees during these months. August and September are the hottest months to visit Hawaii, and November to March is Hawaii’s rainy season. Keep in mind that the northern shore of each of Hawaii’s island is rainier than the southern sides. This is especially true for Kauai and the Big Island.

The Best Time to Honeymoon in Mexico

The best months in terms of weather for Mexico is between October and May. Rainy seasons begins in June and runs through September in most popular areas of Mexico , but usually only involves a light sprinkle throughout the day. Popular honeymoon destinations in Mexico like Cabo and Cancun can get very hot from June through August, so keep that in mind as well.

The Best Time to Honeymoon in Bermuda

May to October are peak season for weather in Bermuda. January and February are rainier and not as warm.

The Best Time to Honeymoon in Europe

The best months to enjoy Europe are from May to September or October. They have generally the same season as the U.S. temperature-wise, so it’s going to be colder in most destinations – even beach destinations like the South of France – from November through April. The worst months weather-wise are December and February. Prices are also usually steeper in December because of the holidays.

The Best Time to Honeymoon in Florida

Florida’s best weather occurs in March, April, October and November. The worst time to visit Florida is between May and September as it is very hot and Florida is technically located in the Atlantic hurricane zone. However, the Florida Keys experience warm, Caribbean-like weather all year long.

The Best Time to Honeymoon in Southeast Asia

Southeast Asia’s best weather is found between November to February. The hottest months are April and May and the rainy season is from June through the end of September.

The Best Time to Honeymoon in the South Pacific

The best time to visit the South Pacific is between May and October. December, January and February are very hot, humid, and rainy here. In addition, Fiji is inside the Pacific cyclone zone which runs from November to April. Tahiti, however, is not inside the danger zone and Fiji is rarely hit during the highest-risk months of January and February.

Last week, my husband Ryan and I took our honeymoon in the Riviera Maya and Cancun. We spent three nights in the Riviera Maya, near Tulum, at UNICO 20° 87° and three nights in Cancun at Le Blanc Spa Resort. First, let’s take a look at UNICO.

We absolutely loved this all-inclusive, adults-only property! We were so exhausted after the wedding (we got married 9/20/19 in Chicago) and this was the perfect place to unwind. This was our first visit to UNICO, and we will definitely be back! Below, I’m highlighting everything we loved about this property. Later, I’ll review Le Blanc Spa Resort, as well as compare the two properties. In addition, I’ll do a separate post on everything we ate at UNICO as well as Le Blanc.

What We Loved About UNICO 20° 87°

unico hm 2

1. Overall Design & Atmosphere of Resort

Right when we arrived at UNICO and stepped into the stunning lobby, we were instantly impressed. The overall design of the property is modern, with touches of the region’s culture throughout. While walking through the property, I kept pointing out how photogenic the entire place was. You can tell that every inch was carefully designed and the end result is absolutely gorgeous. Plus, the property offered a unique mix of relaxation and fun.

2. Spacious & Beautiful Rooms

We were very impressed with the rooms at UNICO as well. It was very large, with a big balcony that had a jacuzzi tub and couch. We had an ocean view and a view of the entire main grounds area as well. This was especially beautiful at night, with just the right amount of light to make it romantic and tranquil. The bathroom was also large, with a steam shower and a separate room for the toilet, plus two sinks. In addition, each room came with a Smart TV, so you can watch shows from your own Netflix or Amazon Prime accounts. We did take advantage of this at night – like I said, we were exhausted!

3. Delicious Food & Great Cocktails

The food here was very good. There were restaurants and dishes that we loved, and some we weren’t crazy about. Overall, I would rank this an 8 out of 10 for food quality. We loved the Italian restaurant, Mi Carisa, as well as the Asian restaurant, Mura House. We did not love the Mexican restaurant, Cueva Siete. The drinks were also great. I stuck to wine and champagne most of the trip, but Ryan especially loved the cocktails at the lobby bar. In addition, Cafe Inez in the lobby has great snacks on-the-go. I did not try it until the last day, but I ordered a ham and cheese panini that was perfect. Ryan also loved it, so we ended up grabbing another before we left for Le Blanc. We also had a lot of great eats at the buffet (20° 87° Restaurant) and especially loved the taco bar.

4. Great Overall Service & Friendly Staff

The service was wonderful overall. Everyone from the waiters to the management team in the lobby were excellent. We never had to wait for our drinks to be refilled at the pool or at any of our meals. Everyone was very friendly and helpful throughout our entire stay.

5. Amazing Spa Services at Great Prices

We ended up getting two couples massages during our three-night stay at UNICO. The prices were so unbelievable that we couldn’t pass it up, and we knew that prices would be much more expensive at Le Blanc. We had the UNICO couples massage, which is a standard deep-tissue massage, and then we tried the Volcanic Stones couples massage before we left on our last day. Both were amazing and the spa is gorgeous. Each couples massage was $175 USD for two people.

unico hm 3

6. Beautiful Pools

There are three pools at UNICO 20° 87°: the main pool or “party pool” as we nicknamed it, a more laid-back pool in the same area, and an even more relaxing pool in a corner of the resort. We spent a day at the “party pool”, which has a swim-up bar, basketball hoops, and inflatable water volleyball court. The next day they had a DJ at the party pool, which some might love but we wanted something more low-key so we headed to the relaxing pool in the corner of the resort. This also has a swim-up bar. The only pool without a swim-up bar is the second one I mentioned above, but all three have great service and friendly staff.

The pools were definitely better than the beach at this property. The beach was pretty small so we didn’t use it at all. Plus, we knew that the beach at Le Blanc was amazing, so we saved our beach days for the second half of our trip.

Stay tuned for a post on everything we  ate at UNICO 20° 87°, plus a comparison of UNICO and Le Blanc. I’ll also be posting a full review of Le Blanc Spa Resort, plus a separate post on the food there.

My husband and I just returned from our honeymoon in Mexico. We stayed at UNICO 20° 87° in Riviera Maya for three nights and Le Blanc Spa Resort in Cancun for three nights. Both properties are 5-star, all-inclusive, and adults-only. While we loved both of these properties, they were quite different in a few aspects. You can read our review of UNICO here and our review of Le Blanc here. Below we’ll highlight some of their differences so you can decide which one might be right for you!

1. Size of Property

UNICO 20° 87° is much larger than Le Blanc, with 448 rooms. Le Blanc, on the other hand, has just 260. In addition to having more rooms, UNICO’s property itself is much larger, with two very large pools and one smaller pool, as well as restaurants and other amenities that are more spread out. It was fun to explore the entire property at UNICO, but we loved the convenience of Le Blanc’s small size. It felt very intimate and unlike the usual all-inclusive experience. Le Blanc definitely had the feel of a honeymoon property, while UNICO was great for a honeymoon but geared more towards groups and singles.

2. Beaches

If you’ve read our reviews of both properties (linked above in first paragraph), you know that the beach at Le Blanc Spa Resort was much bigger and better than the one at UNICO. We usually opt for the pool over the beach, so we didn’t mind it terribly at UNICO. However, the beach at Le Blanc was so gorgeous and easily accessible that we spent almost every afternoon on it.

3. Rooms

UNICO’s rooms are extremely spacious and comfortable. When we first arrived at Le Blanc, we were given a first level room with a walkout to the pool area. We loved that it was a walkout but it was very small, especially after coming from a stay at UNICO, where the rooms were huge. We eventually moved to a 5th floor room because our back door was broken and needed to be fixed. The 5th floor room was much bigger, with an amazing view. One thing we really liked about our room at UNICO was the balcony area. It was very large, with a couch and a jacuzzi tub. Although we never used the tub (It was over 90 degrees every day with 100% humidity), we did hang out here a lot in the morning and at night after dinner. The views from our rooms were quite different as well. Both were very private, but the room at Le Blanc felt more private because it faced the side of the resort, with partial ocean view and partial lagoon view. UNICO’s room was more set away from the beach area, so while we had a partial ocean view, we also had a view of the whole property. At some resorts I wouldn’t like this but UNICO was so beautiful that I actually loved it. It was especially gorgeous at night, with perfect lighting for great ambiance and tons of palm trees dotting the property.

4. Food

While both properties had outstanding food, the food at Le Blanc was next-level delicious. Often when I get to an all-inclusive property it takes a bit of trial and error to find the best food options. This was the case for UNICO. For example, our first two meals were a bit of a let down; we had guacamole and chips, octopus ceviche, boneless wings, and Caesar salad at the pool bar. Everything was a bit bland and not what we were expecting, though we were starving and did end up eating most of the Caesar salad and a few wings. In addition, we did not care for the first restaurant we tried at UNICO, which was the Mexican restaurant. However, after that first day we had tons of great food for the rest of our stay! I will be posting a separate blog post on the food at both properties. Le Blanc had some of the best food I have ever tasted at an all-inclusive property. The restaurants at both properties were stunning, though!

5. Overall Vibe

The overall vibe at these two properties was different in just a few ways. While we saw couples and groups at both, we felt that UNICO had more groups and Le Blanc had more couples. There was definitely more of a party vibe at UNICO, while Le Blanc is extremely relaxing and luxurious – perfect for a honeymoon. However, Le Blanc is located right in the heart of Cancun’s hotel zone, so there are tons of places to go out around the property. UNICO is located in the Riviera Maya about an hour and 15 minutes from Cancun, so we are not sure if there is much nightlife outside of the property. We mostly saw people partying at the resort, which has a DJ nightly. At Le Blanc, we saw many couples venturing out to the bars and clubs. Both resorts had nightly entertainment in the lobby bar, so we stayed on-property during both stays.

6. Spa Prices

The spa prices were vastly different between these two properties. At UNICO, the pricing was similar to what you’d see in the US. I have a membership to Massage Envy and it was actually a bit cheaper here! We got two 80-minute couples massages for a total of $350. That comes out to about $87.50 per massage. That’s quite a deal for an 80-minute service. Although we didn’t get a great explanation on this, we found out that UNICO and other Hard Rock properties recently changed their spa pricing and resort credit policies, which is why the prices were so affordable. At Le Blanc, however, the prices were typical for all-inclusive properties in Mexico. An 80-minute massage was almost $200 and specialty treatments were pretty outrageous. We knew that the pricing at UNICO was unique, which is why we got two massages each while we could. We did hear people raving about their Le Blanc spa services, however, so I’m sure they are amazing!

7. Smoking Policy

If you are a smoker, you should go to UNICO. It is very smoking-friendly with ash trays everywhere and you can even smoke by the pools. I was surprised by this because most all-inclusive resorts that I’ve been to have been non-smoking or had a designated smoking area. Le Blanc, on the other hand, has a no-smoking policy. There is a small smoking area in the front of the property in the parking lot.

Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our honeymoon at UNICO and Le Blanc resorts! We would go back to either one if we had the chance. If I had to choose one over the other, I would probably choose Le Blanc because it was so unique and the food was so amazing.

Last week my husband and I spent three nights at UNICO 20° 87° Riviera Maya and three nights at Le Blanc Spa Resort Cancun. You can read the full review of UNICO 20° 87° here.

Le Blanc Spa Resort in Cancun was one of the best all-inclusive properties I have ever been to. I did get the chance to attend the grand opening of Le Blanc Spa Resort Los Cabos in 2018. These two properties are very different in a few ways, and since it was a work event I had less time to explore the Cabo property. On our honeymoon, we spent the entire time exploring the resort in Cancun. Take a look at some of our favorite aspects of this 5-star, all-inclusive, adults-only property below!

What We Loved About Le Blanc Spa Resort Cancun

Le Blanc 6

1. Outstanding Food & Drinks

Le Blanc Spa Resort Cancun offered some of the best food I have ever had at an all-inclusive resort. I will do a full post detailing all of the restaurants we tried during our stay, but it’s safe to say we loved it. Not only is the food impeccable, but the restaurants are beautiful and intimate. We loved the Italian restaurant, Bella, as well as the Asian restaurant, Asia. We also loved the fine dining experience at Lumiere. The buffet, Blanc International, was also great for breakfast each morning, and even the food we ordered to our pool chairs for lunch each day was absolutely delicious! We also loved the lobby bar, which has a Madmen-vibe to it. There was nightly entertainment here which we enjoyed after dinners. We also had a great experience with the room service – everything was piping hot (we ordered tortilla soup and a chicken club sandwich) and delicious!

Le Blanc 5

2. Gorgeous Beach

If you read our review of UNICO, you know that we weren’t huge fans of the beach there. Luckily we had heard amazing things about Le Blanc’s beach so we saved up all of our beach days for the second half of our honeymoon. It’s huge, with some of the softest and whitest sand I’ve ever touched or seen. In addition, the water was exceptionally clear and beautiful. There is a parasailing company right on the beach, as well as turtle releases nightly during “turtle season” (usually June through November or December). The turtle release was a unique experience that takes place at nighttime around 7:45 PM right on Le Blanc’s beach.

Le Blanc 8

3. Amazing Infinity Pools

Le Blanc had two of the most beautiful infinity pools I’ve ever seen. The main pool is where we hung out most of the time. On the third floor, there is also a smaller infinity pool which we did not discover until our last day. There is also a restaurant on this floor that is open for lunch and dinner nightly. This is the only restaurant we did not get the chance to try.

Le Blanc 4

4. Boutique Size for an Intimate Feel

We also loved the size of this property. Whereas UNICO was rather large like most all-inclusive properties I’ve been to, Le Blanc has only 260 rooms. The property itself, including all restaurants and the pool area, is pretty small which we loved. It allowed us to experience the entire property and also made everything very convenient to get to. We loved that the beach was just a few steps away from our pool chairs.

Le Blanc 7

5. Great Service

The service here was unbelievable. We were especially impressed with the service at the pool each day. The staff was constantly bringing us water for our personal ice bucket throughout the day, in addition to refilling our drinks. We loved that you could order food to the pool each day and really just camped out on our lounge chairs for two straight days. In the late afternoon, we would venture to the beach where the service was also great. One unique thing we loved here was the pool concierge who would come by mid-afternoon to give us mini face and neck massages and a chilled cloth for our eyes. In addition, they came around with random snacks throughout the day like small bites from the restaurants and watermelon slices. The whole experience was completely 5-star and made us feel like celebrities. In addition, I loved that they were constantly bringing us new towels if they saw that ours were getting too wet, and always came by to adjust our umbrella.

Le Blanc 3

6. Beautiful Views

The view right when you walk into Le Blanc is jaw-dropping. You can see straight out through the lobby bar doors to the infinity pool and ocean beneath. In addition, the views from the third floor infinity pool and restaurant were gorgeous. We also loved the view from our fifth-floor room. It was partial ocean view, but the beach was so huge it felt like we were ocean front. We faced the side of the restaurant, away from the pool area, so it felt very private. We also had a view of the property’s own lagoon and the ocean on the other half of the peninsula where the resort is situated. Check out our Instagram @enchantedtravel_ for more pictures of the view – saved in our highlights under “Honeymoons”.

Stay tuned for a post that compares UNICO and Le Blanc – coming soon! In addition, I’ll be recapping everything we ate at both properties in separate blog posts.

My husband and I just returned from our honeymoon, where they stayed for 3 nights at UNICO 20° 87° Riviera Maya and 3 nights at Le Blanc Cancun. Read and see photos of everything we ate at UNICO here. While we liked the food at UNICO (we ranked it an 8 out of 10), the food at Le Blanc Cancun was absolutely amazing. I have never had food like this at an all-inclusive resort before! Check out everything we ate below.

Day One at Le Blanc Cancun

We arrived at Le Blanc Cancun at about 1:15 PM last Thursday. We left UNICO 20° 87° at noon so it is a little over an hour’s drive between the two properties. UNICO 20° 87° is located in the Riviera Maya, near Tulum. Le Blanc Cancun is located right in the heart of Cancun’s hotel district. We had lunch at UNICO 20° 87° before we left, so we didn’t try the food at Le Blanc until dinner – and let me tell you, we wish we had tried it sooner!

Dinner: Blanc Bella Italian Restaurant

This was probably our favorite meal of the entire trip. Blanc Bella is absolutely gorgeous, with white linen tablecloths, glass chandeliers, and beautiful artwork. The staff here could not have been more friendly or helpful.

Le Blanc Cancun 2

Beet with Blue Cheese, Mandarin Orange & Balsamic Glaze

We started with the house appetizer of beet with blue cheese, mandarin orange, and balsamic. This tiny dish was amazing and we knew we were in for a treat!

Le Blanc Cancun 1

Duo Soup: Tomato Cream & Goat Cheese Cream

After that I had the Duo Soup – half tomato cream and half goat cheese cream. If I had been at home for this meal I would have licked the bowl! It was delicious and the presentation was beautiful: they poured the two creams into the bowl at our table and created the perfect yin-yang design.

Caesar Salad

Caesar Salad

Ryan ordered the Caesar salad for his appetizer and it was divine. The dressing ws perfect and it had just the right amount of chopped black olives and cheesy croutons. They also brought us a delicious Focaccia bread with fresh shaved Parmesan and Pancetta to go with it.

Rigatoni Cacio e Pepe Le Blanc Cancun

Rigatoni Cacio e Pepe

After that, the waiter urged us each to order two entrees. I had the Rigatoni Cacio e Pepe which was absolutely amazing. The noodles were cooked perfectly al dente and the sauce was soupy and piping hot. We haven’t stopped talking about this dish.

Chicken Parmesan Le Blanc Cancun

Chicken Parmesan

For my second entree, I had the Chicken Parmesan which was great but I was stuffed to the brim already.

Neapolitan Lasagna

Neapolitan Lasagna

For Ryan’s entree, he had the Neapolitan Lasagna – similar to the Duo Soup in that it was half tomato sauce and half goat cheese with meat sauce. It was beautiful and delicious!

Le Blanc Cancun

Shrimp & Mozzarella Ravioli

For his second entree, he had the Shrimp & Mozzarella Ravioli. This was also impeccably cooked – we couldn’t believe how perfect the shrimp was. We also loved how unique both of these dishes were.

Le Blanc Cancun Panna Cotta

Panna Cotta

For dessert, I had the Panna Cotta which was amazing. I wished I had extra room in my stomach for more than two bites.

Day Two at Le Blanc Cancun

Breakfast: Blanc International

We ate a little differently at Le Blanc because the food was so good we couldn’t stop. Ryan had breakfast at the Blanc International buffet each morning and I waited until they began serving lunch at the pool each day around 11 AM. Ryan had a made-to-order omelette each morning which was literally huge – it looked like a Chipotle burrito. They had great fresh juices, breads & bagels, egg dishes, potato dishes – you name it, they had it!

Lunch: Ordered at the Pool

For lunch on day two we ordered our meals to our lounge chairs at the pool because we couldn’t pull ourselves away from the gorgeous view. It was also much cooler here than it was in Tulum (which is an hour and 15 minutes South of Cancun), so we didn’t mind staying outside. For lunch this day I ordered the Cuban sandwich and I’m so glad I did! It was truly delicious and came with a side of Cajun-seasoned fries. I ate the whole thing in a matter of minutes. Ryan ordered the Reuben, which on the menu is described as having pastrami, sauerkraut, and long island dressing but they must have been out of these ingredients so he ended up with a roast beef sandwich. This was so-so but still hit the spot.

Dinner: Lumiere Fine Dining Experience

Lumiere Sign

Lumiere Sign

Lumiere is the only restaurant at Le Blanc Cancun that requires reservations. Blanc Bella and Blanc Yama (the Asian restaurant – we ate there on Day Three) take reservations but the resort was not crowded so we just walked in at both of these spots.

Mini Toasts with Salmon Mousse

Mini Toasts with Salmon Mousse

Lumiere was delicious, but more importantly it was really fun to try the unique dishes they offered. They started us off with miniature toasts and salmon mousse, the house appetizer. In addition, they brought us these little mushroom truffles that were great. They also came around with a basket of assorted breads and let us choose which ones we wanted.

Crab Appetizer, Seafood Spaghetti, Beef Tartar

Crab Appetizer, Seafood Spaghetti, Beef Tartar

We also ordered the crab appetizer which was similar to a crab cake. The waiter suggested we try the Seafood Spaghetti too, which was great. We stepped out of our comfort zone with the Beef Tartar, which is actually raw beef with spices. We had never had this before and I was a bit wary but it was actually pretty good!

Mushroom Broth

Asian Soup

After the appetizers, we each had the Boston Rock Salad, served on a chilled rock plate. Then we each had soup – Ryan had an Asian soup and I had a mushroom broth.

Lamb, Escargot Risotto, Petite Filet

Lamb, Escargot Risotto, Petite Filet

For our entrees, I ordered the lamb which I have never ordered before. Who knew I was a huge lamb fan?! Ryan had the Petite Filet and we split the Escargot Risotto. If you know Ryan and me, we love Escargot and we had never had it like this before. This was probably my favorite dish from the night, though I did eat every last bite of my lamb entree.

Yogurt, Berries & Caramelized Tomato Dessert

Carrot Dessert

Carrot Dessert

For dessert, Ryan ordered the Carrot Dish, which was similar to carrot cake. I had the Yogurt Dish which came with berries and caramelized cherry tomatoes.

Late Night Snack: Room Service

We decided to try the room service later that night as we had an early dinner. Each of us ordered a tortilla soup which was great and piping hot. We also split the Chicken Club Sandwich. Everything was tasty and much better than the room service we had at UNICO.

Day Three at Le Blanc Cancun

Breakfast: Blanc International

Ryan headed to the breakfast buffet for another omelette on our last day in Mexico. We got up extra early to get the best lounge chairs at the pool and I stayed there all day until about 4 PM. It was heaven!

Le Blanc Cancun

Clockwise from Bottom Dish: Pork Gyoza, Spring Rolls, Beef Bao Bun

Lunch & Snacks: Ordered at the Pool

Mushroom Quesadillas and Chicken Noodle Salad

Cajun Fries

Cajun Fries

I was tempted to order the Cuban Sandwich again but I had had my eye on the Mushroom Quesadillas since we saw someone else order them, so I had those. I also ordered the Chicken Noodle Salad which was tasty and had the best soy dressing. Ryan tried to get a Reuben again but was stuck with another Roast Beef Sandwich. Thankfully since it was all-inclusive we just waited until we were hungry again and ordered extra Cajun Fries and Steak Nachos.

Dinner: Blanc Yama

Blanc Yama is Le Blanc’s Asian restaurant. We were tempted to go back to the Italian restaurant but wanted to try this one. I am so glad we did! We started with the Beef Bao Bun, which was insanely good.

Tuna Tataki

Tuna Tataki

In addition, we ordered Seared Tuna sushi rolls and one a Tempura Sushi Roll. I thought this would suffice for my craving of Seared Tuna at all times, but I ended up ordering the Tuna Tataki (seared tuna in broth) as well. We also had great spring rolls here and perfectly-cooked gyoza (a steamed pork dumpling).

Tofu Ramen Soup

Tofu Ramen Soup

After that, I had the Tofu Ramen Soup which could have been an entree itself. It was huge and very tasty! Ryan had the Miso Soup which was much smaller.

Beef Entree

Beef Entree

For our entrees, Ryan ordered the Beef Dish which comes with a giant heated rock so you can cook the raw beef slices yourself. This was delicious and so fun!

Le Blanc Cancun

Veggie Noodle Bowl

We split the Fried Rice and I had a Veggie Noodle Bowl. We decided against dessert here because the Husker game was on and we were also releasing turtles that night. All in all it was such a fun experience and I’m glad we tried it!

Day Four at Le Blanc Cancun

On our last morning, we went to Blanc International for a quick breakfast and I stuffed some Cheese Croissants into my purse for the plane ride home. These were amazing – they tasted like a sweet Crab Rangoon.

I would rate the food at a 10 out of 10 here. We only had a couple of dishes we didn’t care for but the delicious items more than made up for that. We can’t wait to go back!

Fall is a popular time of the year to schedule your wedding and a great time to travel for your honeymoon. You will find amazing weather in several different parts of the world and might even be able to travel at a discount depending on the destination. Below, we’ve rounded up the best destinations for a fall honeymoon.

The Best Honeymoon Destinations for Fall

curacao 1

Curaçao

Curaçao is entirely outside of the hurricane belt, making it one of the best honeymoon destinations for fall. Hurricane season in the Caribbean runs from June 1st through November 30th. However, Curaçao, and a few other popular Caribbean islands, are outside of the hurricane belt. Therefore, the path the hurricanes take avoids these islands.

Many new resorts have opened up here over the last few years, including Sandals Royal Curaçao, which is a perfect property for honeymooners. Curaçao is a great place for scuba diving and snorkeling, and you won’t want to miss the island’s capital city of Willemstad. Willemstad is a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its pastel-colored buildings and colonial architecture.

aruba

Aruba

Aruba is a very popular Caribbean island and is also outside of the hurricane belt. It is very convenient to get to Aruba, with nonstop flights from many major international airports in the US. You’ll find tons of luxury resorts for honeymoons in Aruba. Don’t miss Flamingo Beach, where you can feed and play with flamingos on a private island!

barbados

Barbados

Although it is technically within the hurricane zone, Barbados makes the list, as it is a wonderful island to explore in the fall. The good news is that Barbados is on the very edge of the hurricane zone and very infrequently sees hurricanes. This island is also easy to get to and has a lot of amazing resorts for honeymooners.

st lucia 1

St. Lucia

St. Lucia is another great destination for couples traveling on their honeymoon in the fall. However, this island is also technically in the hurricane belt. Luckily, the way the island is situated in the southeast of the Caribbean basin protects it from large category hurricanes. Smaller category one or two hurricanes are possible.

With that being said, St. Lucia is a world-class destination year-round. St. Lucia is one of the easiest islands to travel to on this list. Plus, St. Lucia is extremely picturesque and there is a ton of activities to do throughout the island. Snorkeling, scuba diving, gorgeous beaches, and great hiking are just a few of the highlights on this wonderful Caribbean island.

Grenada

Grenada

Grenada might just be the most underrated island in the Caribbean. It is technically part of the hurricane zone, however, it is even farther south than Barbados and St. Lucia. As a result, Grenada very rarely sees any hurricane activity. Grenada is a bit harder to get to from the United States than other Caribbean islands, but this means the island has stayed pretty natural and untouched compared to some other islands. Grenada is a great island to rent a car so you can explore everything on your own.

Paris

Paris

Fall is the perfect time to visit the most romantic city on Earth: Paris! You’ll find it is less crowded and you can truly experience the city as a local. In Paris, Fall is the time of the year when most of the true locals return from their summer holidays and many of the summer tourists have left. Don’t miss a trip to Versailles in the fall – the fall foliage burst with color. If it gets too chilly, you have plenty to explore inside the gorgeous palace.

Barcelona

Much like Paris, Fall is the time of the year when Barcelona’s locals return and many tourists leave. There are tons of great festivals, food, and wine tastings, as well as cooking and cocktail classes in Barcelona, making it a bucket list destination for foodie honeymooners!

Portugal

We love Portugal in the fall. Our honeymoon experts at Enchanted recommend the city of Porto if you are honeymooning in the fall months. Porto is the second-largest city in Portugal and sits on the Duoro River making it easily accessible to wine country. In addition, Porto’s old town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, lined with beautifully colorful and tiled facades and historic sites.
