One of the most popular destinations for a beach getaway, Mexico boasts a vast selection of interactive tours and excursions. Having a general idea of the tour you’re most interested in beforehand is always a good idea to save time and make the most of your vacation. If you’re looking for some off-the-beaten-path adventures, below we’ve highlighted a list of Lomas Travel tours that are as unique as they are adventurous.
1. Swim with Whale Sharks
2. See Mayan Ruins
Learn the history of one of Mexico’s oldest archeological sites located in the ancient Mayan city of Tulum. Stand in awe of these remarkable structures right along the Caribbean shoreline and then enjoy some time relaxing on the beach nearby. This tour takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes, including round-trip transportation, a bottle of water, bilingual guides, and sun lounges.
3. Shop 5th Avenue of Playa Del Carmen
4. Take a Day Trip to Cozumel
Just a short ferry ride from Playa Del Carmen, the beautiful island of Cozumel is famous for incredible snorkeling and scuba diving. Looking for something in between? Try snuba, an activity that combines components of both. Snuba allows you to explore much deeper depths than snorkeling due to the air tank that floats on the surface. We can’t think of a better way to see vibrant sea life without having to worry about PADI certifications!
5. Snorkel Cenotes
Otherwise known as natural sinkholes, cenotes offer a snorkeling experience that is unlike anything you’ll find in the open blue. Cenotes are full of cool, crystal clear water, housing very unique ecosystems (including the always-beautiful stalagmites and stalactites). Note: biodegradable sunscreen and bug spray is mandatory for preserving the cenote’s composition.
6. Zip Line Through the Jungle
7. Tequila Tasting Tour
8. Witness Sea Turtle Nesting
If you’re anywhere near the Cancun area between May and September (which happens to be Sea Turtle nesting season), you can witness a miracle right on the beach! This tour begins at 10:00 p.m., as female turtles crawl out of the ocean to nest during the night. Don’t expect to capture the experience on camera, though. Flash photography will scare the turtle right back into the ocean before she even begins to lay her eggs.
9. Experience Coco Bongo
10. Dune Buggy to Punta Sur
Take in the rugged landscape of Cozumel by dune buggy on this 4-hour tour. Following the coastal highway, you’ll pass crocodiles, lagoons, and even have the opportunity to view the scenery from a lighthouse. Up for some off-roading? Take advantage of the mud terrain area near the end of the route. And don’t forget, a valid driver’s license is mandatory!

Cancun & Riviera Maya are two of the most popular tourist destinations in Mexico. Vacationers flock here for pristine white beaches, top-notch resorts, and crystal blue water. There is so much to do in this destination, including the Mayan Ruins, great diving spots with colorful coral reefs and diverse sea life, and hundreds of cenotes (deep natural wells) to explore. Check out some of our favorite all-inclusive resorts in the area below.
Budget Options
You don’t have to spend a fortune to relax on a luxurious beach at an all-inclusive resort in Cancun or the Riviera Maya. The Royal in Playa del Carmen is one great option. This is the first adults-only, all-inclusive I ever stayed at, and it is still one of my favorites to this day. You cannot beat the amazing location near nightlife and daytime activities.
Mid-Range Options
Another favorite resort of mine is Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort & Spa. This property is a bit off the beaten path, which is perfect for couples or families looking to get away. For those looking for an adults-only experience, book the Hideaway section.
Excellence Riviera Cancun is another great option. I have toured this property many times and I am always struck by the distinct luxurious feel and attention to detail! Not to mention, the food is some of the best I’ve experienced at an all-inclusive resort.
Splurge Options
Lastly, one of our favorite new resorts from the Hard Rock brand is UNICO 20°87° Riviera Maya. This adults-only all-inclusive property has a unique cultural feel. Each space evokes Mexico’s past and present and you will find artisanal touches in every corner.
Our family recently stayed at The Grand at Moon Palace Cancun. This was a great property for a large group! It is actually an extension of the Moon Palace resort. Here you’ll find something for everyone, from a lively waterpark to secluded pools.
El Dorado Casitas Royale is a property that truly never disappoints! In fact, it was voted one of Conde Nast Traveler’s Top 100 Hotels! Here you can enjoy all of the amenities and restaurants of neighbor hotels El Dorado Royale and Generations Riviera Maya.

Our owners Kem & Lori just returned from a quick stay at the Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya Hotel in Playa del Carmen. They were there to attend a destination wedding (booked through Enchanted Travel of course!) but it was cut short due to a new member of the family being born a bit early!

Beach, Pool, and Grounds
The Valentin is an ideal adults-only luxury resort in the Mayan Riviera. The resort is best described as casually elegant. Here you’ll find two beaches. There is a smaller beach in front of the Emerald Suites, as well as the main beach. Both beaches are on Playa Secreto, a half-mile stretch of white sand beach.
The main pool is one of the largest pools in Mexico and has a large swim-up bar where you can order snacks and cocktails. The pool winds throughout the lush gardens of the property, and since there are no kids allowed, you won’t be bothered by splashing or screaming!

Activities
Since the Valentin is adults-only, all the on-property activities are tailored to adults. With pools, beaches, live entertainment, and themed parties, there is always something to do and see at the Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya.
Sporting activities include water polo, aqua Zumba, beach volleyball, yoga, and even rifle shooting. You can also take a Latin dance class, or laze away an afternoon with tequila and wine tastings hosted by Valentin’s very own sommeliers. Those are just a few of the activities available to you as a guest of the Valentin.

Service
The service at the Valentin is unbeatable. The staff is friendly and helpful, and they truly make you feel at home immediately upon your arrival. If you want to experience an even higher level of luxury, ask your Enchanted Travel expert about Privilege Club. This will grant you a better room location, special concierge service, upgraded amenities, and exclusive lounge access. Whether you opt for the Privilege Club or not, you are sure to be met with impeccable service and warm staff throughout the resort.

Rooms
There are several different room categories to choose from at the Valentin, all with a colonial style and emphasis on the colorful culture of Mexico. Standard room features include large furnished balconies or terraces, full marble bathrooms, a hydro-massage bathtub and more. You can also choose to be closer to the restaurants and pools (with a 4-minute walk to the beach) in a Silver Junior Suite. However, if you are looking for more space, opt for a Diamond Privilege Suite or an Imperial Privilege Suite. These corner suites offer the very best views of the resort. Keep in mind that these two room categories in particular are reserved for Privilege Club (see more details above, under ‘Service). If you are not part of Privilege Club, there are still more spacious suites with ocean views and swim-ups available.

Food & Drink
There are eight restaurant options for dinner, as well as two options for lunch. In addition, there are nine bars on the property, including one that is beachfront, a poolside bar, cigar bar, martini lounge, and one that features nightly live entertainment.
Restaurant options include Taman Sari, an Asian fusion eatery open for dinner; a casual Mexican restaurant called La Hacienda; Ginger, serving Japanese cuisine and Teppanyaki; a traditional french restaurant called L’Alsace; L’Olivo, serving Mediterranean cuisine; and two buffet-style restaurants: Le Marche and Mar y Tierra. In addition, you can try The Corner, which is a culinary experience with different gastronomic tendencies. This is the only restaurant at the Valentin with additional charges.

Location
The Valentin Imperial Maya is just a 25-minute drive from downtown Cancun, where you’ll find plenty of nightlife. It is ideally located for making a day trip to the ruins of Tulum, Coba, and even Chichen Itza. Xel-Ha, a “natural aquarium” and marine life theme park, is also nearby.

Last week, my husband Ryan and I took our honeymoon in the Riviera Maya and Cancun. We spent three nights in the Riviera Maya, near Tulum, at UNICO 20° 87° and three nights in Cancun at Le Blanc Spa Resort. First, let’s take a look at UNICO.
We absolutely loved this all-inclusive, adults-only property! We were so exhausted after the wedding (we got married 9/20/19 in Chicago) and this was the perfect place to unwind. This was our first visit to UNICO, and we will definitely be back! Below, I’m highlighting everything we loved about this property. Later, I’ll review Le Blanc Spa Resort, as well as compare the two properties. In addition, I’ll do a separate post on everything we ate at UNICO as well as Le Blanc.

What We Loved About UNICO 20° 87°
1. Overall Design & Atmosphere of Resort
Right when we arrived at UNICO and stepped into the stunning lobby, we were instantly impressed. The overall design of the property is modern, with touches of the region’s culture throughout. While walking through the property, I kept pointing out how photogenic the entire place was. You can tell that every inch was carefully designed and the end result is absolutely gorgeous. Plus, the property offered a unique mix of relaxation and fun.

2. Spacious & Beautiful Rooms
We were very impressed with the rooms at UNICO as well. It was very large, with a big balcony that had a jacuzzi tub and couch. We had an ocean view and a view of the entire main grounds area as well. This was especially beautiful at night, with just the right amount of light to make it romantic and tranquil. The bathroom was also large, with a steam shower and a separate room for the toilet, plus two sinks. In addition, each room came with a Smart TV, so you can watch shows from your own Netflix or Amazon Prime accounts. We did take advantage of this at night – like I said, we were exhausted!

3. Delicious Food & Great Cocktails
The food here was very good. There were restaurants and dishes that we loved, and some we weren’t crazy about. Overall, I would rank this an 8 out of 10 for food quality. We loved the Italian restaurant, Mi Carisa, as well as the Asian restaurant, Mura House. We did not love the Mexican restaurant, Cueva Siete. The drinks were also great. I stuck to wine and champagne most of the trip, but Ryan especially loved the cocktails at the lobby bar. In addition, Cafe Inez in the lobby has great snacks on-the-go. I did not try it until the last day, but I ordered a ham and cheese panini that was perfect. Ryan also loved it, so we ended up grabbing another before we left for Le Blanc. We also had a lot of great eats at the buffet (20° 87° Restaurant) and especially loved the taco bar.

4. Great Overall Service & Friendly Staff
The service was wonderful overall. Everyone from the waiters to the management team in the lobby were excellent. We never had to wait for our drinks to be refilled at the pool or at any of our meals. Everyone was very friendly and helpful throughout our entire stay.

5. Amazing Spa Services at Great Prices
We ended up getting two couples massages during our three-night stay at UNICO. The prices were so unbelievable that we couldn’t pass it up, and we knew that prices would be much more expensive at Le Blanc. We had the UNICO couples massage, which is a standard deep-tissue massage, and then we tried the Volcanic Stones couples massage before we left on our last day. Both were amazing and the spa is gorgeous. Each couples massage was $175 USD for two people.

6. Beautiful Pools
There are three pools at UNICO 20° 87°: the main pool or “party pool” as we nicknamed it, a more laid-back pool in the same area, and an even more relaxing pool in a corner of the resort. We spent a day at the “party pool”, which has a swim-up bar, basketball hoops, and inflatable water volleyball court. The next day they had a DJ at the party pool, which some might love but we wanted something more low-key so we headed to the relaxing pool in the corner of the resort. This also has a swim-up bar. The only pool without a swim-up bar is the second one I mentioned above, but all three have great service and friendly staff.
The pools were definitely better than the beach at this property. The beach was pretty small so we didn’t use it at all. Plus, we knew that the beach at Le Blanc was amazing, so we saved our beach days for the second half of our trip.
Stay tuned for a post on everything we ate at UNICO 20° 87°, plus a comparison of UNICO and Le Blanc. I’ll also be posting a full review of Le Blanc Spa Resort, plus a separate post on the food there.

On June 5, 2025, Haley and Jake tied the knot in a picture-perfect beachfront ceremony at Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya, surrounded by 60 of their closest friends and family members. After nearly eight years together, they knew they wanted more than just a wedding day. They wanted a full experience they could share with the people who mattered most. The pair worked with Marissa at Enchanted Travel to plan their Big Day.
“We met through mutual friends and have been together for nearly 8 years! When it came time to start planning our wedding, we wanted to be surrounded by the absolute closest people in our lives.”
Haley & Jake’s Destination Wedding at Hard Rock Riviera Maya
Why a Destination Wedding?
The couple wanted their wedding to feel fun, laid back, and stress-free, and a destination wedding checked every box. Planning was smooth and simple thanks to our Travel Agent and Destination Wedding Specialist, Marissa, who helped coordinate all travel for the couple and their guests. “Everything about the planning was so simple from Marissa at Enchanted, handling everyone’s travel to the Hard Rock resort, taking care of all the wedding day details,” they shared. The result was an entire week filled with celebration, connection, and love. “There really weren’t words to describe how loved we felt that week!”
The Wedding Day Vibe
Haley and Jake chose a simple, elegant setup that let the natural beauty of the beach take center stage. Their ceremony featured white florals, colorful tropical signature drinks, and a chocolate cake that guests loved. “We chose to have a pretty simple theme for the day of as we wanted the beach to really be the emphasis,” Haley said, “It truly doesn’t get much better than saying ‘I do’ in front of such a naturally beautiful place. It truly felt like we were in paradise.”
A Reception to Remember
Their celebration didn’t stop at the ceremony. As soon as the music started, the dance floor stayed full all night long. “It truly was a party! The minute we started dancing at the reception, we never stepped foot off the dance floor! It was everything we wanted. Everyone was on their feet and on the dance floor.”
Why They Loved Hard Rock Riviera Maya
The couple loved how the resort offered something for everyone. With both an adults-only and a family-friendly side, every guest was able to find the perfect room and experience. “We loved that the Hard Rock Resort has both an adult-only side and a family side. It really was the best of both worlds and allowed our guests to find the perfect room for themselves,” the couple shared. And with multiple restaurants, several pools, a sandy beach, and endless activities, there was never a dull moment. “Due to the size of the resort they had everything to offer,” Haley added. “Many great tasting restaurants, access to several pools, a nice sandy beach, and lots and lots of activities. Our guests and us never got bored!”

Final Thoughts for Future Couples
For anyone on the fence about planning a destination wedding, Haley and Jake had this to say: “It may seem scary to go about planning a destination wedding, but let us be the first to say you will never regret it. We got the chance to be on vacation with our closest family and friends, and we’ll reminisce on those memories for the rest of our lives. Between Enchanted and the Hard Rock, our whole wedding planning process was such a breeze. They sure made us feel like we were taken care of the entire time. We would do it all over again if we could!”
We love planning destination weddings for our clients and take pride in ensuring every detail is perfect from start to finish. Hearing feedback like this from our destination wedding couples is truly the best feeling. We are so appreciative of Haley and Jake for trusting us with such an important milestone, and to all of our amazing clients who allow us to be part of their love stories.
