Detain Falls<\/a> is located on the China and Vietnam border. They are surrounded by gorgeous, lush scenery and impressive\u00a0 mountain peaks. The most unique part about these falls, despite their incredible beauty, is that they are divided into 3 layers. The layers create a domino effect where waterfalls flow into waterfalls, creating a stunning multi-dimension stream of waterfalls and plunge pools. There are walking paths for tourists where you can check out the falls from several angles, all of which are sure to amaze you.<\/p>\n

Baatara Gorge Waterfall, Lebanon<\/h3>\n

The Baatara Gorge Waterfall<\/a>, also known as the Balaa gorge waterfall, is in Tannourine, Lebanon. It drops 837 feet into the Baatara Pothole. The Baatara Pothole is a limestone cave on the Lebanon Mountain Trail. The cave is also known as the “Cave of Three Bridges”. French bio-speleologist Henri Coiffait discovered the falls in 1952. In the 1980s, the Sp\u00e9l\u00e9o club du Liban fully mapped the waterfall and sinkhole.<\/p>\n

Svartifoss (Black Falls), Iceland<\/h3>\n

Svartifoss<\/a>, also known as Black Falls, is located in Skaftafell National Park in Iceland. It’s name comes from the dark lava columns which surround it. These column formations are the same phenomenon that you’ll see at Giant’s Causeway in Northern Ireland. These basalt columns have inspired many Icelandic architectural works, including the Hallgr\u00edmskirkja church in Reykjav\u00edk, and also the National Theatre.<\/p>\n

Asik-Asik Falls, Philippines<\/h3>\n

The Asik-Asik Spring falls<\/a> is located in Alamada, North Cotabato in the Philippines. It is 197 feet high and 460 feet wide. In addition to it’s great beauty, the waters apparently have healing powers. Another unique thing about Asik-Asik Falls is that no river or other body of water exists above it. The water gushes directly out from rock formations in a cliff at the edge of a hill. In addition, the fresh water is so cold that visitors could drink it. The provincial government constructed a road towards the site so it is more easily accessible.<\/p>\n

Bigar Cascade Falls, Romania<\/h3>\n

Bigar Cascade Falls<\/a> is located in Caras-Severin, Romania. There are two very unique things about this waterfall.First, is the unusual way the water is spread and falls in thin shreds. In addition, the waterfall is exactly on the 45th parallel. The 45th parallel is a circle of latitude 45 degrees north of Earth’s equator and is commonly known as the halfway point between the equator and the North Pole. You can find the dramatic moss-covered falls in the forests of the Anina Mountains.<\/p>\n

Horizontal Falls, Australia<\/h3>\n

The Horizontal Falls<\/a>, also known as the “Horries”, is a natural phenomenon on the coast of Western Australia in the Kimberley region. These falls are a fast-moving tidal flow which flow through two narrow gorges of the McLarty Range in Talbot Bay. What’s so unique about them? The direction of the flow reverses with each change in the tide. Tides in this area can reach up to 33 feet, creating a big difference in the sea level on either side of each gorge.<\/p>\n

Ruby Falls, Tennessee<\/h3>\n

Ruby Falls<\/a> is the tallest and deepest accessible underground waterfall in the US. It is located in Lookout Mountain in Tennessee. The impressive site also has a charming story behind it’s name. Leo Lambert discovered the falls in 1928 and named it after his wife, Ruby.<\/p>\n
