Sunday, June 11, 2023<\/h3>\n

Jacki and her group traveled from Santry to the resort of Kinsale at the southern tip of Ireland. En route, they stopped at the town of Cahir to see an ancient castle. Kinsale is known as the “gourmet capital of Ireland”. It is also home to the historic Charles Fort<\/a> guarding the harbor and many fine restaurants. The group then stayed overnight at the 4-star Actons Hotel<\/a> right by the quay and yacht club.<\/p>\n

Monday, June 12, 2023<\/h3>\n

On this day of their Ireland tour, Jacki’s group traveled West through Counties Cork and Kerry by one of several routes to reach Ireland’s premier tourist resort of Killarney. The total journey time for this trip was about three hours including a couple of breaks. This is the most scenic part of Ireland with mountain ranges and twisting passes offering spectacular views across the hills. In Killarney, the group stayed two nights at the centrally-located, 3-star Randles Hotel<\/a>. Randles is just a five-minute walk from the town center with many great bars, shops, and restaurants.<\/p>\n

Tuesday, June 13, 2023<\/h3>\n

On Tuesday, the group had a full day of touring. They visited the Ring of Kerry, aka the Dingle Peninsula. They also saw Muckross House or Ross Castle and Waterville in Killarney.<\/p>\n

Wednesday, June 14, 2023<\/h3>\n

On Wednesday of the Ireland tour, they crossed the River Shannon to visit the Bunratty Folk Park<\/a> and the Cliffs of Moher. These famed cliffs drop 600′ straight down into the Atlantic. After a full day, the group checked into the Park House Hotel<\/a> in Galway for one night. Galway is the most vibrant city in Ireland with tons of great shopping, street musicians, two cathedrals, and a new salmon-shaped pedestrian bridge over the River Corrib.<\/p>\n

Thursday, June 15, 2023<\/h3>\n

The next day, the group traveled north through counties Galway and Mayo with stops at Ashford Castle Hotel in Cong, the town of Castlebar, and the Foxford Wooleen Mills<\/a>. They stayed overnight at the Mountain Falcon Hotel<\/a> in Ballina.<\/p>\n

Friday, June 16, 2023<\/h3>\n

On Friday, they had a long drive through counties Sligo and Donegal through barren scenery which gives a clue as to why so many Irish emigrated during the Famine. They visited the city of Derry\/Londonderry with all of its history: settled by English “planters” between 1608 and 1621, Derry became the bridgehead for the English presence in north-west Ireland and survived a 105-day siege during the war between Catholic King James II and Protestant King William III. Echoes of this still resonate in the area today. That night, the group stayed overnight at the Inn on the Coast in Port Rush<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Saturday, June 17, 2023<\/h3>\n

On this day, the group drove around the spectacular Antrim Coast and saw many famed Game of Thrones scenes. They spent the afternoon in the Titanic Center<\/a> in Belfast. That night, they stayed overnight at the 4-star Europa Hotel in central Belfast. The Europa was once known as the most bombed hotel in Europe. It is still in business and perfectly located for city center sightseeing. It is also right across the street from the only pub owned by the National Trust: the Crown Bar.<\/p>\n

Sunday, June 18, 2023<\/h3>\n

On Sunday, they took a two-hour transfer to Dublin to visit the famous Guinness Storehouse<\/a>. Then, they stayed one night in the 4-star Ashling Hotel<\/a> near Phoenix Park before heading home the next morning.<\/p>\n
